I had an extremely disappointing experience with Petal. I ordered cupcakes online for my wedding guests with dietary requirements and selected the earliest available pickup slot of 9:30-11:00 AM. My sister arrived at the store at 8:50 AM, only to be told the cupcakes would not be ready until exactly 9:30 AM unless we paid a $10 fee for "priority service."
What made this so frustrating was that the store opens at 8:00 AM, there were no other customers in the store, and the task of piping the cupcakes took less than five minutes. Despite the lack of busyness the staff rigidly enforced the fee rather than showing any flexibility or goodwill.
I understand businesses have policies, but the way this was handled showed no consideration or understanding of the situation. A one-time courtesy with clear communication about future policies could have turned this into a positive experience. Instead, I left feeling undervalued as a customer.
I’ve decided to leave this review after reaching out to Petal directly and receiving a disappointing response from the General Manager. Their reply was dismissive and showed a complete lack of understanding and acknowledgment of my concerns, which only reinforced my decision not to order from Petal again.

My team couldn’t stop talking about the cupcakes after the challenge – it was hilarious how challenging it was for them to guess the flavours. Some even thought there was a reverse-psychology experiment going on, whereby they answered that one box contained Blueberry cupcakes (blue icing by default), because I was trying to trick them into thinking it was a different flavour.
Many said they were great cupcakes, regardless of flavours: Base was not dry at all, icing was not too sweet, and there were heaps of options. There were options for people with strict dietary requirements and allergies too, and found out that the bakery is nut-free.

The staff were incredibly helpful when I accidentally entered the wrong address—they quickly updated it for me. I requested a 9 am delivery, and they delivered the flowers by 8:30 am, which was awesome.
Even though I’m based outside of Auckland, I was kept in the loop with updates on the delivery’s progress. I even received a photo email showing the completed delivery.
My sister was thrilled with the flowers, which were large, vibrant, and beautiful. They also accommodated her dietary needs by providing 4 gluten-free cupcakes, which she loved.
