We cruised with them the evening of boxing day 2024, a party of six with a party of four and two also on board. The cabin could have taken a few more but but was good as we were too. Skipper and crew are a husband and wife team, both friendly and easy to spend the time with. The boat was nice and comfortable, warm below decks and in the hot tub! We had added the polar suits to supplement our warm clothing and if you're worried about being cold on deck that's an option to add. We knew the weather forecast wasn't great but they got us out to a patch of broken sky, we saw a few stars but as there wasn't aurora we did see it that day (it's a naturally occurring phenomenal afterall). Skipper had the boat held on autopilot under the gaps in the clouds and was out chatting and telling us what we could see on land too. The crew of one as well as chatting was very hard working, tea, coffee and hot chocolate always available in the cabin, and she helped everyone get too and from the hot tub ready to take or hand you the towel. As well as preparing and serving the food. I'll include a photo of the reindeer stew we had, it was lovely to eat. You had a choice of when you had supper and everyone worked that around their hot tub timings. It's seated at a table in the cabin, all very civilised.
The hot tub was shared between the groups, the group of four, four of us and then the young couple of our group got it to themselves, the other party of two decided not to use it. Each group got 45 minutes in the tub plus time for the shower and changing either side. It's very odd sitting on deck in a hot tub being so lovely and warm, watching the sky and passing island lights and mountains, whilst it's gently snowing. Do take a beanie hat as they recommend. It's really only cold walking to the tub from the cabin door with just your towel and cossie, after you're so warm the ten seconds are perfectly bearable.
The islands are pretty from the fjord and there were parts just not seen from our bus trips about. It was snowing harder as we came back to the port. After eating, my wife and I had come back up onto the deck and it was lovely, sitting warm and full being snowed on as we came through back under the bridge. A lovely way to spend the evening in Tromsø.
The phone camera makes the outside photos look lighter but we could see the hills above the lights, it's an odd darkness if you've not yet experienced it, more light...

Read moreWe took the Luxury Northern Lights Cruise on 9 Feb 2024 with a total of 12 passengers. The captain welcomed us aboard and introduced Sachi who took care of us all evening. We did not go in the hot tub but most of the other passengers did, each taking a turn with their own group. Dinner was available at whatever time you requested, and we were free to go on deck anytime which I did a few times to get pictures, but most of the evening was spent below deck socializing and enjoying the smooth ride while the captain searched for visible aurora activity. It was a cloudy evening so we held little hope of seeing the aurora, but about 30 minutes before the end of the cruise the captain stopped the ship and called us on deck where we were able to see and photograph an aurora that appeared in a clear patch of sky. We were all delighted with the fortunate happy conclusion of our cruise. The ship was beautiful inside and warm and comfortable. The reindeer soup with seasoned bread dinner was good, but an alternate food option would have been...
