It was a warm and bright summer night in the brisk and windy coast of Tromsø. The seagles were flocking around scavenging for Whopper burgers in their usual elegant, but pandemonic fashion.
I was bored so I had to get a vegan Whopper, despite the paralizing fear of coming face to face with the seagul hordes in a battle for my life. With a blend of trepidation and determination, I embarked on a short stroll that lasted no more than a mere 10 seconds before the seagulls swooped in, launching a coordinated assault, screaching and flapping their wings in the most aggressive of manners. I managed to neutralize 5 of them, but they kept coming. Realizing the gravity of the situation, my only recourse was to seek refuge in the nearest secure establishment—the Rorbua Pub. I was coverd in sweat and blood from the altrecation, but my world was fundamentaly transformed once I saw the cozy and vibrant atmosphere of the Pub. Read moreThis place is not family friendly and staff are confused about the policy around when kids are allowed in, if at all.
We were left feeling embarrassed on two occasions. One around 8pm after we'd already been in the pub playing family games for an hour
The second was on our day of departure around 12pm when my wife and son were already inside having ordered soft drinks whilst we await our taxi for the airport but me and my daughter where denied entry about 10 minutes later. My wife ultimately argued our case and how stupid the Rorbua were being and they let us all in.
This is the only place in Tromso where there is so much confusion and as the place right across from our hotel and in the central tourist hub it's not at all friendly to families.
There is no signage explaining the policy, and we've had no joy in making sense of it.
My recommendation would be to avoid this place and for the Rorbua Pub to be far more welcoming and to train their staff and put up...

Very surprised as this is standard politeness in the UK but apparently not in this bar. Despite this attitude the overall ambiance of the pub was nice, however having only sat down for 5 minutes we were then approached by someone saying that we had to pay to stay as they were having a band on!! Not the most friendly welcome on our first night in Norway, let's hope we find some...
