I have never left a review regarding hotels on social media in spite of travelling around the world and living in 5 star/ 4 star hotels where our experiences had largely been very good. We had booked a premium room with sea and mountain views for 7 nights at this hotel and were given a room on the 5th floor where there were buildings partially blocking our views. From day 1, we had brought this to the attention of the reception staff and were asked to check daily to assess availability on the 7th or 8th floor where views are better. Initially there were promises that since our stay was long there would be availabilities where they would have to make minimal adjustments to accommodate our request. However today, a receptionist called Sebastian to whom we had talked to yesterday as well, informed flatly on our face that nothing would be available on those floors. When specifically asked - do you mean to say that everyone who is staying on the 7th and 8th floor at this time would not be checking out till 1st January (the day of our departure) he said ‘yes’. Lo and behold - everybody else in the world happens to have the same itinerary like us - what a great coincidence!!! Unfortunately we are not kindergarten students who would be taking this ludicrous statement seriously of course. And definitely he needs a communication skills course of some sort to work as a receptionist or isn’t that a requirement in reputed hotels? This same person advised that we would be charged for every bottle of water handed at the reception - something that we haven’t found in any other part of the world and this was not mentioned in the 1st 2 days of our stay at the hotel when other reception staffs had handed us small bottles of water without quoting a charge! Housekeeping is appalling too with essential items never getting replaced. What exactly is going on in this hotel? We had stayed in the same hotel chain few times in the past as well but our experience had never been anything similar to this! We would definitely steer clear of this hotel in the future but I guess this would not matter to them, as managers of such appalling services have to be nonchalant of their customer needs and won’t be giving a damn to...

I’m not sure where to start to be honest!

We visited in December! we requested a room with a sea view. Instead we got a room overlooking another room with a dirty wall and absolutely no view, please be careful as the sea rooms are few and far between. All you could hear all night was music from the street, 11pm onwards. For the tours this wasn’t helpful as were kept up all night! The rooms were very hot and due to the nightly noise you couldn’t open them. We asked if we could move rooms as that’s what was requested at the time of our booking and it was our daughter’s bday and we were met with a flat out no! Very rude! the room was quite small given there were 3 of us but that wasn’t the end of the world. the reception staff were beyond rude in particular a young lady who I’m not sure how is able to work in hospitality. She was incredibly rude when I mentioned that there were dirty glasses by the reception area where the snacks and water is. Lipstick all over 3 of the glasses, she told me that it was from guests before us, I had simply mentioned that maybe they should be moved! I asked if there was anywhere we could take our 5 year old as the hotel pub wouldn’t allow her in after 5pm. As you can imagine the nights are long if you haven’t got a tour booked. We wanted to have a chilled drink before going to dinner, was told by the hotel pub that this wasn’t normal and they don’t allow kids in after 5pm. I mentioned this to the hotel reception, the same young lady who said very abruptly, why would you want your child in a pub, I said it wasn’t about being a bad parent, simply their parents being able to have a drink before dinner! I’m sorry but I have never in all my experience of visiting so many countries in particular; Finland and Iceland and this really put a bad taste in our mouths! Norway is such a beautiful country and we went whale watching which was a once in a life time opportunity, just a shame that the staff at the hotel ruined...

Magical views and Scandic vibes

This Tromsø outlet of Radisson offers a first-class base for catching the Northern Lights during the winter or catching the magical midnight sun during polar summers. Most of the hotel’s rooms and suites showcase breathtaking views of the city, the Bay of Tromsø or the surrounding mountains.

LOCATION: The central location means you'll have easy access to nearby cultural attractions, restaurants and shops while enjoying stunning scenic views of the surrounding mountains, forests, and fjords.

DINE + DRINK: The super characterful Rorbua pub attached to the hotel is a really killer bar that has be checked out! So is the good breakfast buffet at Charly's Restaurant.

ROOM: We stayed in 720, so this review is based on that; VIEW: mindblowing views of the mountains and bay from 2 sets of huge windows; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: No cooler in the room, but the windows could be left open and helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Good Radisson branded cosmetics

FACILITIES: Compact Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines, good for a full-on workout. The best part is since it is on the top floor you get to WORKOUT WITH A VIEW! They also have a nice SAUNA with a spectacular view.

SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home, and well taken care of. Special Shout out to FRANK at the front office for enhancing our stay experience

HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out limited numer of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...

Hotel is centrally located - it is the pickup point or close to the pickup locations for tours. Also walking distance to the main food/shopping street. Rooms and service needs improvement. We were first given a room which had drainage problems. The toilet became flooded every time the shower or faucet is turned on. Which made using the toilet impossible. We had to report the problem twice before we were given a new room. Shower area could be better designed. The shower door closes in on you providing only a small standing space barely enough to shower. Yet the door doesn’t seal off the shower area completely. So the rest of the toilet floor still gets wet. This is a design issue at the Radisson in Oslo too. Rooms are refreshed daily if you don’t hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign. There is no sign to request for housekeeping. Our room could be better cleaned - bedsheets were not tidied and our toilet was not cleaned. No toothbrush or toothpaste provided in the room. No slippers for standard rooms. They only give slippers for premium and superior rooms, which is rather surprising for a 4-star hotel. Lotte at the front desk is the only reason we didn’t give a 1-2 stars review. She was helpful and did what she could. Overall, might want to look for other cheaper hotels that are just as well located as Radisson Tromsø.

Stayed here in December 2024 and it was an okay hotel. Overcrowded. The lobby was often swarmed with people. Service wasn’t the best. The hotel has zero parking for itself, not even paid parking so you have to put yourself at the mercy of the Norwegian parking rules outside, which is not very straightforward and expensive. Hotel staff gave differing information about parking between themselves as well, so it was hard to know who was correct and who to trust. Rooms were on the smaller side, decent if you’re a solo traveller with one luggage but with two travellers you will struggle for space. Shower boxes have an annoying collapsible door/wall feature that was not stable and very frustrating to shower in. If this is modern scandi design it’s a huge fail! Go back to basic practicalism. Highlight of the hotel had to be the top floor sauna with harbour view, but just be aware some rooms may be able to look inside (and vice versa) so dress modestly. Unsure if it’s a one way or two way glass. The hotel is also in a good central location, walkable to most places in Tromsø city.
