I don't think that the Lisbon Card was worth it for our trip. I see a lot of reviews complaining about waiting in line at certain attractions, but to be honest there is no skip the line option for ANY groups for said attractions so I didn't mind not getting preferential treatment. I would say it's unfortunate that they advertise themselves as offering these skip the lines, which they should remove, but not having them in general was not an issue for me. I think the only issue was the value you get from the card compared to the price of the attractions originally.
It was €90 for two people (€45 pp) for 48 hours. We were able to enjoy entry to the Jerónimos Monastery (€10), Belem Tower (€6), Santa Justa Lift (€5.30), National Coach Museum (€4), National Pantheon (€4), Rua Augusta Arch (€3.50), and enjoyed discounted access for some of the other attractions. We also took the public transit a couple times, but typically took an Uber. I'd say we probably got €40 value out of the cards, but usually when we get these city cards we far surpass the paid value. I'd like to see the price of these cards lowered a bit, otherwise I have no issues with the attractions and perks offered. They were also very easy to use, no tech issues or problems at the door. All the attractions were...
Read moreWe got the three-day Lisbon card for our visit. In short, it was quite disappointing. The only benefit of the card was the public transport. When picking up the card in the tourist office, we were given the card only. No more information. In other cities you get a little book with information about what you can do with the card. In Lisbon we had to ask for this but we were only given a page with a list of free museum and discounts. While the card offers a long list of free museum entries, it is nearly impossible to see any of the sights. We decided to go to Torre Belém and found out that it had a 2-hour waiting time in the blazing sun. So we moved to the Jeronimos Monastery where we found a similar problem. So we didn't get to see that either. This highlights where the Lisbon card falls short of its promise. The card offers you free entry but not fast access like in other cities. It would have taken a whole day to see two sights! The same waiting time applies for tram 28 or the Santa Justa lift. That's not very tourist friendly. In the end we gave up and just used the card for transport and some less frequented sights. We probably broke even at the end of our city break. Overpriced, not really offering any advantages. We wanted to see Lisbon but Lisbon didn't...
Read moreWe bought a 72 hour card thinking it would be a lot more useful than it was. THE WEBSITE IS MISLEADING. Despite it saying Pena Palace in Sintra is included in the price, it is not. The train is, but that's it. You get a 10% discount on the palace and park and two different employees at the Pena Palace specifically told us that it's a lie to say it's included. Some of the other attractions that are included still involve a very long wait, like Belem Tower or the monastery. We chose to not wait two hours for those despite the admission being covered. Some of the other museums that are included are either very far away, uninteresting, or very affordable (or free) to get into so the card doesn't make that big of a difference. Our favorite museum in Lisbon was the Museum of Contemporary Art – MAC/CCB and we got only got a 10% discount with the card. Same thing for the Lisbon Botanical Garden. While it was great for transportation, the museums and monuments are hardly worth it. Also, using public transportation is nice, but very often it would be a 17 minute tram or bus ride compared to a 21 minute walk. We really regretted buying this card....
