We generally plan and organize our own travel experiences. However, planning an African safari is an adventure where expert help and guidance is absolutely essential. The experience and knowledge of your guide, the details regarding transfers, connections, game drives, & accommodations all require local expertise to maximize your experience. We feel so fortunate to have found Wilderness Legends African to partner with in planning and guiding our 8 day Tanzanian Safari. Communication from the very start was excelllent. All of our transportation connections and accommodation arrangement were flawless. And most importantly, our guide, Baraza took us to locations and put us in proximity to wildlife that simply doesn't happen for most visitors. As we shared photos, stories and trip costs with other travelers, the response we heard most often was, "We sure wish we had your guide!" We returned home with amazing, close-up photos of the 'Big Five,' the 'Little Five' and the next twenty-five! Donatus, the Director of Wilderness Legends even met us for dinner (twice) and did everything possible (and more) to maximize our our safari experience. If we are ever able to return to Tanzania, there's no doubt we would work with Wilderness Legends again and if we have friends or family planning a trip, we'll insist that they work with no other outfitter. Wilderness Legends has our unqualified...
Read moreOur family group (ranging in age from 11 to late 60s) spent 7 incredible days exploring Tanzania on a tour organized by Donatus and Wilderness Legends African safaris. It was our first time, and we thought it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but I already want to go back! It was a blessing to have all of the details of the experience so well planned and to have such caring, knowledgable guides (Elia and Baraza) to help us meet the animals, birds and some amazing people groups of Tanzania. Each chosen lodge (we stayed at 5 different places) was a new surprise for us--way exceeded our expectation. I feel like we had just enough communication to have some idea of what was to come, but enough was left unsaid to keep things surprising and exciting for our group. It was a pleasure meeting Donatus along the way and to hear about the incredible work he is doing with conservation in Tanzania--amazing that he has time to plan such wonderful trips in his spare time! We highly recommend this...
Read moreThis three-years, COVID-delayed experience was well worth the wait! The itinerary was great, the guides, Elia and Baraza, were excellent (and excellent drivers), the wildlife was abundant and varied - we managed all the "big 7" including the elusive rhino and cheetah. Our group voiced interest in the birds as well as the mammals, so we often made stops for birds spotted by the eagle-eyed guides. We had several cultural visits, to the Maasai, Datoga and Hadzabe villages, all very informative and enjoyable. The accommodations were very good to great (especially enjoyed Manyara's Secret on Lake Manyara, and the two different tent camps), the food was adequate to good (we didn't go to Tanzania for the food after all), in general the service was very good. I'd not quite expected the long game drive days in the safari vehicles, bumping along on the sometimes quite rough dirt "roads," but stopping for nice long looks at all the wildlife made the slight discomfort...
