I recently visited this restaurant based on a local friend’s recommendation, who assured us it offered good food at reasonable prices and was suited for Western tastes as well. Since it was our last day in Tanzania, we invited some friends to join us for a farewell meal.
The place wasn’t busy—there was only one other table when we arrived, and our waiter was friendly and welcoming. However, the experience quickly went downhill. Our food took over an hour to arrive, and to our disappointment, most of it was served cold. Cold meat, chips, and potatoes are far from ideal, especially after such a long wait. Despite being patient and polite, we had to send items back to be reheated. This piecemeal service made for a very disjointed dining experience, as each of us waited for different parts of our meal to be warmed up.
There was no apology or explanation provided of the service we received. So given the inconvenience, I asked the waiter if they could offer a complimentary dessert or even a small cookie as a goodwill gesture. I wanted to give them a chance to partially redeem themselves, and give me something positive to write in my review. The waiter kindly said they would check with the manager, but we never heard back. When we asked for the bill, it took another lengthy wait, which added to our frustration.
While the food tasted decent once it was finally warm, I’m afraid I can’t recommend this place based on the level of service and lack of accountability we experienced. I hope the management will consider this feedback and address these issues to provide a better experience for...
Read moreI have eaten at Fifi’s Cafe maybe 7 times! I love the chicken samosas with a glass of wine. I also enjoyed the butternut soup and keto salad. It is a place to not only eat but chill and relax and even work - some computer work, emailing, looking through your vacation photos etc. Never did I felt rushed. Quite the opposite the pace is slow and very relaxed. The menu is extensive. I would like to acknowledge the bartender/wait staff Barnaba - he was very kind and hospitable. He even helped me get my preferred wine when it ran out! THANK YOU! Also Lazaro and Kantona were awesome. I returned and returned here. I always left happy. It is a place not just for foreigners or tourists but for locals and their families. It was for me a home away...
Read moreFifi’s is definitely my favorite coffee place in town! I’ve been here for two months now and this is where I spend most of my time.
The coffee and the passion juice is very good. And you should definitely try the Kilimanjaro Pork if you want something to eat. That one is one of my favorites.
Inside the café there is also a little shop we’re you can buy everything from notebooks to dresses. I’ve had a couple dresses made now and they turned out really good. Leonica who runs the shop is so sweet and very attentive to details. This can also be said about the rest of the staff.
Thank you Fifi’s from a very...
