We visited the restaurant last night and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience overall. We ordered the Cajun Chicken Pizza, only for it to arrive without any chicken. When we raised this with the staff, the pizza was returned to the kitchen. The waiter later informed us that the chef had simply forgotten to add the chicken – quite concerning, especially for a signature dish.
When the pizza came out a second time, it was topped with Habanero Pepper (Pilipili Mbuzi), something we never requested. On asking, the waiter explained they had run out of bell peppers (capsicum) and had replaced them with habaneros without informing us. Since we don’t eat chillies, we had to return the pizza again. At that point, we left disappointed and still hungry.
On a positive note, the Vegetarian Quesadillas were cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed by our family. It was the highlight of the evening and showed that the kitchen can deliver when things are done right.
That said, the service needs improvement. Our waiter didn’t seem to know how long the food would take to arrive, nor how one of the drinks we ordered was prepared. Staff training is clearly needed, both in terms of product knowledge and communication.
We hope this feedback is taken constructively, as we’d love to see the restaurant deliver a more consistent and informed...
Read moreIf I could give it zero stars I would. I came back to this cafe because they used to have the best service and food in Arusha. Clearly this has changed. They only cater to tables that have white guests. When I needed service my table was constantly skipped. If I asked for something, the item I asked for was given to the white tables instead. All of the white tables around me received service except for mine (as I am not white). The waitstaff seemed like they were falling over themselves trying to be at the white tables' beck and call. Apparently, you'll need to be white/Caucasian to actually receive service at this establishment.
Not to mention the disgusting burger I had. It had almost no meat, and the patty, if you want to call it that, was mushy and fell apart because it was all breadcrumbs. Now this place had the best and most flavorful burgers in all of Arusha.
Honestly, for service and great food, there are many better options in Arusha. Skip this place and go someplace better like Culture Cafe or Sanna Cafe. Kitamu has forgotten that customer service and consistency in quality is what keeps customers coming back....

Kitamu is Kiswahil and means delicious or something similar. So the real name is Delicious Coffee. However their name should have been delicious food, coffee and everything else! 😍
This is my go to place when visiting Arusha. For food, for coffee and for work. I love the fish, the wraps and the mandasis here.
The wraps looks really Instagram friendly and tastes amazing, and i love the use of avocado in the food. Healthy food here.
Also the internet is really good here, so i usually go here for work when in Arusha. Good food, good coffee and good internet is a great combination for work.
The staff is good, kind and always smiling.
The location is also perfect. Very central in the newer part of the city. Reachable by foot, or you can take a piki piki. If you are at the main road you can take a dala dala and walk 500 - 1000 meters from the dala dala stop.
The only negative thing is the space. It’s kind of small and so popular that its very often full.
All in all my favorite work and lunch place in Arusha. If you are visiting Arusha, you have to go...
