Desperately needed a haircut after 4 months of travelling but have been nervous about where to go as I have tighter curly hair which is not common in Asia so not many hairdressers know how to cut it properly. I thought I’d wait until I went to Chiang Mai as they are used to western tourists and may have more experience with curls.
I stopped by a few places in Chiang Mai but they couldn’t take me without an appointment. I had almost given up but I was going to be passing by one more place before I got back to my hostel and I decided to give it one more go.
I arrived and Anna greeted me and said she had an appointment coming in 10 minutes but she could do a quick dry cut with some layers which was all I needed. Luckily her appointment rescheduled while I was there so she had some more time to spend making sure my hair was perfect and chatting more. She also does a lot of perms so she knows how to deal with curly hair.
I’m so glad I decided to try here as Anna was so so lovely. She speaks good enough English for a nice chat, especially considering she taught herself with a book during COVID! I was so impressed!
She knew exactly what I needed and did it really nicely. 300B is a great price for the service you get.
Anna is also really really good at making origami cranes. She has hundreds and hundreds hanging around the salon adding a lovely colourful and creative feel. I said she should try to sell the bigger pieces like window hangings. I would have bought something from her if I were going back home.
I don’t trust many people with my hair but I will absolutely come back to Anna every time I come back to Chiang Mai and need a haircut or treatment. What an...
Read moreCame here after reading many five-star reviews. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was in the right place! I really like the atmosphere of this family-style salon and the friendly and lovely owners! The store is very old style and cute, unlike many brand-new salons where you can only sit upright, and the outdoor seating allows you to sit outside and relax while waiting in the salon ~ All in all, I like the feeling very much. The owner even give me red wine, saying "One salon, one red wine" lol This is the first time such an interesting salon experience has happened to me🤣 I had a great time chatting with the owner during the salon and became a great friend. I felt comfortable leaving my hair to her. I also like the finished perm very much! ! We even just had a short discussion about how I imagined my hair to look like and showed her hair picture, and she did a great job! Thank you very much for saving my half-straight and half-curly hair.♥️so that I can continue traveling with beautiful hairstyle. The owner has good craftsmanship and a kind heart, and she can also talk in English! (This is rare for salons I have tried and asked about in Thailand) The price was unexpectedly very cheap so I gave her a tip in the end to thank us for having a great time together ☺️ I will miss this place and will definitely come back next time I come...
