Came here because of the great reviews, but to be honest it wasn't all that. First of all the grab app gave a different adress which was the old salon, where I found a sign 'We moved across the street'. I then walked across the street to stand in front of another closed door. Another note was attached which said " we moved inside the backyard'. or something similar. I finally found it.
My barber was cool, didn't talk too much, which I didn't mind. I just wanted the sides and my bears trimmed.
He was focused and tried to make both sides even and equal. I think he did a good job. He was done after about 45 minutes. He also put a wet towel on my face gave me a quick shoulder and face rub. Given that I was sitting right under then a/c I would have preferred a hot towel, but cold was fine.
I was charged 400baht which threw me off because all I read was 300 on the reviews here, he said it was more because of the pomade he put on my hair. I'm not sure if he just gave me a higher price since he knew I was just visiting or if this was the actual price. I didn't argue.
All in all it's a cool barber shop, has a cool vibe. But it's not as special as...
Read moreIt's funny that I had to travel 24+ hours by plane to get the best haircut I've had in a decade. My hair is unique; went gray early in life and is thick and curly. I've never really had much of a 'hair style identity'.
Ecks, the barber who cut my hair, took direction from my wife and applied it to his own creative style to solidify what I'll be asking future barbers to do to my head. Ecks had great attention to detail, very personable, speaks English very well, can't say enough great things about the dude.
The barbershop itself had a nice atmosphere and unique decor that reminded me of Edger Allen Poe, or maybe Sherlock Holmes' study. Kind of old school, but with chill house music playing in the background low enough to allow conversation. The place smelled of good hair product; they carried the stuff I typically use, and Ecks tried something new for my curly hair that works great. I'll be stopping by in a few days to buy it.
Go to the Cutler if you want a fantastic cut. They require reservations...
Read moreAdmittedly, I’m quite a Sheldon Cooper when it comes to haircuts, I’ve had essentially the same style for 5 years. I’m a creature of habit. I decided I wanted something different but was a little cautious because I have very fine hair and Asian guys tend to have much thicker hair that I’d come out like Edward Scissorhands went loose on me. Communication with these guys was superb, cost, great value for money. Cleanliness, amazing. You definitely get the ‘alternative’ & ‘gentlemanly’ vibe. I simply messaged them online, came a little early, was instantly sat down. I showed the guy a picture of a new cut I wanted, instantly he got to work and if I’m honest I’m really happy with it, more happy than I have been in years! So thank you! Definitely recommend to foreigners who are as cautious as I am - they won’t...
