Where do I even begin? Writing this review would not do justice to the profound experience we had on our three tours with Hakan. We started our touring adventures with the Half-Day Sahaba Tour, and all I can say is that the beauty of Hakan's storytelling made you feel even closer to the Sahaba (AS). The way in which the tour was organized and conducted made you appreciate the time and thoughtfulness that Hakan put into the planning of it. And, no joke, the incredible amount of history you learn about the Sahaba is mind-blowing. The next day we set out on the Osman TV Set Tour (Sunday only). We are HUGE fans of Ertuğrul and Osman, so to see the whole set made us feel like we were part of the Kayi tribe. We got really lucky because we were able to see a majority of the sets. And, not only that, but we also enjoyed a delicious lunch right next to Mehmet Bozdag and his family. (Hakan would have introduced us to them, but it looked like the wife was trying to feed the son, and you know you don't dare interrupt a child eating. LOL!) But it doesn't stop there, we then got to see Orhan and Holofira! (We would have met them, but our 2 year old and 5 month old were getting a bit antsy). The Plato is such a peaceful and remarkable place. We are from Los Angeles, so when we compare the movie studios from LA to the Plato, hands-down the Plato is an unforgettable experience. Our final day with Hakan was for the Ertuğrul Tour, and I don't even know how to explain the emotion I felt on that tour. Seeing the tombs of Ertuğrul Gazi, Sheikh Edebali, Osman Gazi, Orhan Gazi, Bala Hatun, Halime Sultan, the Alps, and more, was so unreal. Also, we were fortunate to see the changing of the guard at Ertuğrul Gazi's Tomb. It was very sad when we had to say goodbye to Hakan because it was like saying goodbye to your family. We all got so close after the tours, and even my kids call him Chacha (Uncle in Urdu). And, that feeling of "family" comes from ALL that Hakan did for us...He pushed back the start time of two of the tours to accommodate our jetlagged family...He spoke about the history of each of the attractions with such passion and excitement...He went out of his way to drop us off at our Airbnb in a different city. He put both of my overly tired kids to sleep with his nurturing voice and touch. And, each of the tour vans we took was pristine and comfortable. Again, this review does not do it any justice. There's no way I would have ever expected to feel as touched as I did after these tours. Thank you, Hakan, for always quickly answering each and every one of my nagging questions throughout the planning of our tours. Thank you for tailoring the tours to our needs. And, thank you for having such a positive impact on me and my family. We can't wait to see...
Read moreErtuğrul Ghazi Tour -February 2020 We were picked up after 6 am from our hotel and headed out. We stopped for quick breakfast and headed to Sheikh Edabali Tomb where his wife, daughter Bala, and some of his dervishes were buried. Next we headed to the tomb of Ertuğrul Ghazi. As soon as we arrived we saw the changing of the guards. We visited his tomb then the cemetery where his wife Halime Sultan, his brother Dundar, sons Savci and Günduz, and other alps were all buried. Soon after we headed for lunch at Yusuf Kofteci - amazing food for much needed day! We headed to Turgut Alp tomb and mosque afterwards. Our final stop was Osman Ghazi and son Orhan. We headed back to Istanbul and were dropped off at our hotel right after 10 pm. The tour was amazing - Hakan was friendly and knowledgeable and will look him up for again for other tours he offers...
Read moreI was travelling to Turkey for a short stay. I made contact with Hakan and to be honest, he took all the pains away of finding things to do and also booked my accommodation. He also arranged for my hotel transfers. Hakan arranged a really good hotel two mins away from Hagia Sophia. He arranged for me to go to one of my favorite places Abdul Hameeds Shrine. He then also got me tickets for a 2 hour Bosphorus Cruise. Such a friendly and hospitable person, very easy to communicate with. If like me you want a bit of peace and quite when eating, Hakan took me to a small cafe called Rumis. Cannot recommend this enough either. The owner Ibrahim was awesome and the food was the best Turkish food I have had in a long time. Overall the best thing I ever did in Turkey was getting in touch with Hakan. Will be using this...
