We decided to book this boat trip super last minute after checking the weather for our time in Istanbul, we messaged the Velena Travel team the night before to see if we could join the trip and the communication through WhatsApp was great.

On the morning of the tour we received a WhatsApp update from one of the team with ETA for pick up from our hotel. We were picked up in a well appointed, clean minibus which took us down to the pier to board our boat.

The boat itself was lovely, we have both travelled extensively around Europe and done a number of boat trips, but this was one of the nicest boats we have been on; spacious, comfortable and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we all had a brilliant day.

Our guide, Taner, was brilliant, informative and witty, he had a great sense on humour which made us both smile as he shared historic, geographic and political knowledge about Istanbul and the Bosphorus.

The cruise itself was lovely, gorgeous scenery and perfect blue sky's (which Velena can't take credit for, but it did make the day even better) it was great fun. The trip from the city centre up to the Black Sea is fascinating and you learn so much about the city, the country as a whole and the industry that has helped shape this metropolis.

The on board service was exemplary, upon arrival there were snacks on the tables and soft drinks and water were brought around, these were plentiful. Lunch was lovely, meze plates with salad and bread to start with a choice of chicken skewers, grilled beef, meat balls or seabass for main, served with chips or rice. After the short stop at Anadolu Kavagi, (grab yourself an ice cream from the lovely lady just after you alight the boat, its made with goats milk and tastes divine) you are back on board and fruit platters, tea and coffee are served... on our trip it suddenly got chilly and blankets were brought out to keep us all cosy on the top deck, or you could opt to move downstairs to the enclosed seating area if that was your preference!

I honestly can't rave about this day trip any more; our team of Taner, Mohamed and Ahmet were all amazing, nothing was too much trouble for them, we would 100% recommend... in fact, my parents are visiting Istanbul later this month and I have already told them to book!
