Stella Stays — Local services in Dubai

Do not book with Stella Stays !!

We had a very poor experience with Stella Stays. It was made very clear to me that they have no empathy and nor interest for the customer. If you face a problem, you do not want to be in contact with them. We have filed an official complaint with the consumer protection here in Dubai to fight to get our refund back. I will send a new review once I have an update on the conclusion.

Below is a summary of my experience. Note how they have responded to the experience.

We arrived at the building and apartment after a tedious journey with no electricity. We did not receive prior notice from Stella Stays over this major inconvenience. The elevator was not working, so we had to carry our heavy luggage in pitch black up many staircases to a pitch black accommodation. We searched and booked one night in another hotel hoping for the electricity to be back on the second day. Unfortunately, we faced the same situation which is a nonfunctioning building/apartment. Other building in the area had back up generators to overcome the problem but that was not the case with Stella Stays. There was no indication on whether the situation will improve so we could not afford to waste more days hoping for the best. We were in constant communication with them and all they said was be patient. So we requested for a refund since we did not pay to enter a non functional apartment.

Initially they stated that it was a reasonable action to do and will respond in 24hrs. They did not respond, and we had no choice but to fully commit to another accommodation. They responded after the checkout date stating that they will only refund us for 1 night out of the 7 nights! although we lost 2 nights before the power came back (elevator was still not working) since it was out of their control.

We sent them an email sharing our complete experience illustrating in detail how it has been physically and mentally draining and how we have ended up paying for two accommodations, and how it is within our right given the circumstances to request for a full refund.

In response they provided an e voucher which is worse than the first offer and still did not return my security deposit ! and continue to play the role of the victim although we clearly stated that we are the customer and we are the ones who experienced this major inconvenience and made the payments ! This is not a company that understands that they are providing a service to the customer and when they fail to do so they should try to take care of their customers and...

The Stella Stays team are unsupportive and in the face of an issue will not be there to help you out in any way. I will not be using their services anymore and will advise all the people to think twice.

My husband and I booked for seven nights in Galata Istanbul and when we arrived were shocked to find no electricity in the whole building. We contacted Stella stays and they told us there is a power outage, the locals told us this happened the night before and we were confused as to why they (Stella Stays) didn’t inform us this and left us to discover the situation on the day of our arrival. After two days of no power and sleeping in alternative accommodation, and consistently asking the Stella stays team for information, we requested for a refund and moved out. The team at Stella stays were very cold and slow to respond on the status of our refund and then finally after a week told us they would refund us the amount equivalent to one nights stay.
