I bought my ticket on my phone for the train and my phone ran out of battery. So I approached a staff member on the platform and explained my scenario. I expected to have to pay for another fair since this would be the kind of scam every cockroach would try, but he gave me another option, talk to the conductor.
So i talked to the conductor, nice dude, really helpful. He sent me off to the ticket office to try and see if they had a charging cable from lost & found. His colegue in the back managed to source 1 that fit my phone, and as my train had 10 minutes before leaving, I managed to get 8 minutes charge on, (13% battery)!!! All the while, the original staff member I was talking with had been watching my bag on the platform as I was sorting this out.
Just an absolute blinder played by the lads at Scarborough railway station. Absolute blinder! Thanks guys for being so sorted....
Read moreI am giving the Scarborough Railway station a 2 star rating because I went to the train station today at 06:50 waiting for the train to Hull: I looked at the time table, and said a time of 08:22 along with the platform, which said platform 4. I was waiting at platform 4 for a couple of minutes and the train didn't arrive. so i went to the front desk and asked a woman if the train to Hull had departed: She responded with 'yes, it departed from platform 2: however, there is a bus that goes to hull' so i walked off and went to go look at the screen for platform 2. It said that the platform 2 train was off to Liverpool. He didn't acknowledge the discounted tickets I bought, I showed him all the online orders, but he still thought the machine typed out fake tickets and took the tickets, I explained everything to him, he just repeated the same words, it is none of his business, and took my card, so I missed all the travel and had to reorder the entire ticket (from here to York and London) again.
