Would have give 2ยฝ stars but you can't do ยฝ star so given it a 3. Absolutely gutted to have had to give this place such a low score because we had heard great things about the food here!! It was not great! My partner and I called in here on Wednesday 1st June for lunch and a drink. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who asked us to look at the menu and then order our food & drinks at the bar. Decided on our meals and ordered. Drinks quite pricey! A ginger beer and pint of Carling was ยฃ7!! Food arrived, I ordered Cod & Chips, my partner had the Beef dinner. Cod was good size and batter was light, chips were OK and good size portion of mushy peas. My partners food was awful though!! Beef was so grissely you could barely chew it, carrots were disgusting, spongey and had a really strange taste, sweed came cubed not mashed and were solid, Roast Potatoes were so salty. Gravy was already on the food, not served in a boat and was lumpy and far too salty! My partner was only able to eat her boiled potatoes, cabbage and yorkshire pudding, after she scraped off the gravy! Her dinner was inedible! Her dinner cost ยฃ8.99 and was disgusting. My partners plate was almost as full when we left as when it was served!! Won't spend our money here again. The place wasn't even busy, at the time, apart from the 2 of us, only 3 other people were eating, so it can't be blamed on that! Extremely disappointed, what a...
ย ย ย Read moreVisited the pub today for a lunchtime meal with a friend. I was so disappointed with the quality of everything, unfortunately the place seems to have gone down hill since I last visited probably over a year ago now. I had a burger which was raw in the middle & very bland over all, the chips were fried so much that they were just full of oil & so crispy there was no filling left in them! The table we sat on was sticky & dirty (there were only 2 other tables of people in the entire pub). The interior of the pub is also very tired & in need of repair/refurbishment, the music was blasting.. far too loud for a daytime meal! I'm afraid to say the overall experience was really...
ย ย ย Read moreThis was one of my first pub experience during Covid restrictions and I was impressed with the set up at The Westbourne. It's best to pre-book a table, especially at peak times. We had reserved two tables of 4, all tables were separated by a perspex screen to comply with the current rule of 6 persons. It's not possible to go up to the bar and order, instead it is waiter service by a buzzer on each table. Your drinks are brought quickly and then payment is made by card. Masks are not needed whilst at your table, but when moving around the pub you must wear one. Even on a bank holiday weekend the service was prompt and the place was not...
