Housed inside the the once busy canning hall of the old Cains brewery - Red Brick Market is a fascinating collection of independent vintage/antique traders.
There's many stalls selling tons of vintage and antique items. Literally anything you could imagine from household furniture to toys&games - loads of vintage clothes - records - books - artworks - vintage luggage - cameras - glassware - jewellery items and everything inbetween and prices are fair in my opinion 👍🏼
There's also several stores selling modern day items but 'quirky' stuff you might not see anywhere else!
At this time of writing they do have a mask policy/social distancing/one way system in place although latest news is Boris is about to allow us to unmask ourselves and hug the people we go to the market with! 🤗
I love the 'feel' of Redbrick. It's super chilled and fascinating to investigate what's around every corner and in every nook and cranny! And there's a lot of nooks so take a good look! My partner spotted six beautiful coloured acid etched 1950's shot glasses tucked away behind many other items. Now on display in her drinking glasses cabinet! 🥂
I look at them now with fond memories of our day mooching around Redbrick!
Obviously items come and go daily at Redbrick. It's like a huge sponge with vintage items flowing in&out quicker than you might think. So if you see something your 'heart desires' (like our shot glasses) - buy it because it will be gone next time you go!
We'll definitely...
Read morethe toilet situation is very cheeky! i realised i was desperate for a wee after walking almost 30 minutes to red brick market but my friend and i had to pay £9 for drinks at the café JUST to get the key for the toilet, after being firmly told the toilet was for “café customers only”.
the state the toilet was in, they should have been paying us to use it! there were only two half-used toilet rolls, both stood on the floor when i walked in, and no papers for drying your hands so i had to use the cheap toilet paper which had been on the floor! there was also a crudely written sign on the wall (only on the inside of the bathroom) stating to wait for the flush to work (the handle was not very good and it took a moment to flush) and then in handwriting: “No pooing, it will clog the toilet” ?? bit late notice if you already purchased something from the café because you needed a poo!
as for the market itself, there is a range of vintage and handmade items. you do have to rifle through a bit of AI slop and some drop-shipped items to find higher quality artist...

I enjoyed being able to browse goods such as clothing, jewellery, housewares, art and collectables unencumbered by the food and drink, information and activity stalls which swamp a lot of similar venues and markets. Some of the booths are especially well curated and styled for a particular era or aesthetic, others more like a regular market stall with a mix of goods simply presented.
Personally, I'd like to see more true vintage, and original creations, and fewer reproductions and reseller stalls, but there was still enough variety to coax me back.
*Please note that payment is by card only, for security and ease of distributing the payments to the respective stall holders.
