Ryde café is located in a former warehouse which formed part of Cain’s brewery. I enquired about getting my bike fixed whilst I was here; they couldn’t fit me in on that day. However, aside from the bike repair service, the café is worth a visit if you want to meet other cycling enthusiasts. The café serves a range of coffees and other drinks. It also has a limited food menu. I found the vegetarian options most enticing. I have to say that I enjoyed my avocado toast with spicy chickpeas. I wasn’t so sure about the extra undecorated slices of toast, but the toast that had the filling on was fine. The service was reasonably quick and friendly. The best thing about this café was the atmosphere. The place was full and buzzing with all kinds of people. The fact that it is located in an “arts hub” meant that there was plenty to look at on the walls. There seemed to be quite a few events taking place and when I was there a local artist was just setting up her new gift shop. All in all, I would say that the café is definitely worth a visit but it might be worth checking ahead to see what events are on and calling in advance if you are thinking about getting your bike fixed.

Ryde - the Bycycle Café - is a real find and by far the best place to stop and recharge along the whole 44.2 miles of Route 56. It has everything! There's an on-site bike workshop, cycle racks inside and outside, tables inside and outside and an awesomely quirky cycle theme throughout. For the non-cyclist (and that's me most of the time) and cyclist alike, the food and drinks are extra special, served super quick by the friendly and helpful team. Now, any coffee or lunch meetings for me will always be redirected to Ryde!

Cool quirky coffee shop with much more, great food and they know their coffee! Bike heaven.. with vintage bicycles hanging up on display, cycling tops, gear and accessories, and bike servicing. Atmosphere-Chilled out relaxing, and no need to be a cyclist just a great place to come and eat or get a coffee any time.Theres a seperate cosy section down a couple of steps with quiet seating areas, great for working on PC or cosy chat. Good for- Groups, singles, workbreaks.Winter warm inside,or sit and relax outside on warmer days.

Summary: Hung out to dry, false agreement of job, no communication - despite assurance of, discussed work on bike not done, no acceptance of poor service, no attempt to rectify/help. Would definitely advise anyone against using this bike service if you want a reliable, honest job. So disappointed.

More detail if you wish to read: -Brought my bike to the workshop at the start of the week - was very clear that I had a race that weekend and the bike needed to be picked up on Thursday - was assured the work could be done - which included a full service and a swap of tyres/wheels to road tyres. I was assured the mechanic would look at my bike the next morning for an initial assessment and I would receive a phone call the next morning. This did not happen. I had explained when I brought the bike in that I had ordered new tyres and wheels and would drop them off at the shop as soon as I could - at no point was it communicated that work wouldn't be started on my bike until the wheels/tyres had been brought in, nor was this assumed by myself given the discussion when I dropped the bike off (being someone who has a fair amount of bike knowledge and knows that a bike service can be carried out regardless of whether there is a plan to change wheels over!) When I arrived at the workshop enquiring about the bike - 3 days later (the day before I am due to leave for the race) - I was met with a dismissive, unapologetic and at times aggressive attitude. The mechanic informed me that he had not even looked at my bike, let alone carried out the service. When asked why he did not attempt to call me given the urgency of the job, he initially denied the fact that he had promised a call, he then - when I presume he remembered - blamed the entire situation on me for not bringing the wheels in earlier. There was no attempt to help, apologise, offer any kind of alternative - and I was advised that it was my problem to deal with.

Overall, really disappointed at not only the reliability of the service but the lack of humility and respect you would hope to receive from another human being.

The cafe is lovely. But I definitely would not recommend the bike workshop based on my, quite horrible experience. If the shop wants to discuss this further - you have my contact details and I would be more than...

Been here a few times in the past and it was OK, but I was there for my last time just the other day. Complete letdown.

I ordered bacon and egg on toast with brown sauce expecting it to come as a butty like it usually would anywhere else. When it came out it was bacon and eggs laid out on 2 slices of uncut barely buttered WHITE toast with no sauce. I asked for brown bread but oh well, it’s bread, I don’t care at this point. I requested sauce again and started making my DIY butty, that’s when I noticed that my poached eggs were undercooked. You know the ones, runny and snotty inside with more uncooked white than yolk. I’m not a fussy eater, I threw them on the butty willing to just swallow my pride along with the uncooked eggs.

2 bites into the sandwich and I feel a huge hair tangled in my mouth as I take a bite. Had no choice but to spit it onto my plate. Took the food back to the counter furious and showed the lad at the counter the uncooked eggs and the hair I had between my fingers.

Got offered replacement food or a refund. I asked for a refund. As I was leaving the chef came over out of the kitchen apologising and asking what the problem was with the eggs, completely disregarding the fact I’d just had somebody else’s hair in my food and then in my mouth. It was a feeble attempt to make excuses in front of me and my 2 other friends I was with. Great bike repair shop,...
