Went here on a whim with no particular interest in warhammer left with a new addiction.
Seriously though, the place in and of itself is quite neat, literally right next to the trainstation. The staff are extremely kind and very knowledgable. They had several starter kits and also a bunch of other sets and whatnot. Not particularly big, but there is quite a selecetion across Warhammer 40k, and Age of Sigmar, but also a few other things. I did an introductory figure painting session for free, and there are several other 'courses' such as building and playing the tabletop game. Every Warhammer store offers these introductions, and I will return here soon to play and build as well, so expect an update. I am also including a picture of my first ever Warhammer figurine I painted, as they built a small building just for photoshoots.
My (current) Verdict: 9/10 Decent.
Time for the update. I went here again two days later, just forgot to update this review then. Anyways when I was here again, I met another friendly guy who guided me through building a figurine and how to play the tabletop. He showed me the basics on how to build, and then just let me work. For the tabletop we went through a short two turn 'game' where he simply introduced me to the basics of the game. The principle of which stays more or less the same, regardless of the size of that tournament.
My (new) Verdict:...
Read moreMy friend and I went to warhammer today to buy a book for my fiancé for his birthday, I wasn’t sure which one he needed next, so we asked at the desk, we met Tom, who was very knowledgeable and very helpful! He talked us through the books, how they lead on from the last, how they all connect and although I’m not really a warhammer fan myself, it was really fascinating how much he knew just off the top of his head, we ended up talking about the mini figures, and he said that we could actually paint one for free! We decided to go for it and Tom walked us through each step, explaining the process clearly, showing us painting techniques and telling us about warhammer, and we enjoyed every single second, I learnt so much and although I wasn’t a warhammer fan when we went in, I definitely left as one! I really appreciate the time taken today and the joy it brought...
Read moreUsually friendly staff I'm Warhammer stores but really disappointed with staff on a recent visit.
Was a hot day and went in with both sons, and my eldest who is autistic went to use one of the stools which was not in use from the main table and moved it roughly 1 foot so he could sit down and look at the skaven window display.
I believe it was Tom who snapped at my son and told him not to move it in case someone wanted to use that table to paint.....there was only 2 other people in the store at this time, of which he was with them at the opposite side of the table.
Not as friendly and accommodating as the chester store who are brilliant...
