Bonhams — Local services in London

We submitted an item which we had been researching diligently for the past few months for valuation with Bonhams. They responded with a valuation of £150. We had already had part of the lot valued with a rival auctioneer for £1000. So surely the whole lot should have a value much more than that since the rest is very valuable. Bonhams had previously sold the exact same item for £4000. Admittadly in better condition. Quite amusing really! This suggests that their was a lack of care when making our valuation. Furthermore the email sent back to us containing the valuation felt condescending and rude as if just because it wasn't a Rolex watch or a diamond it wasn't worth their time for review. Even if it had been worth £150 it still shouldn't have been treated with such disrespect! I understand if they might be working with high volumes of valuation requests that a mistake might of slipped through the net but not when they had sold the exact same thing! Anyway, Its them missing out on the £1200 comission and we will go and sell it at the other auction house which takes the time to treat the item with a bit of respect. Just because we aren't inviting you to our house to view our £50,000,000 supercar collection does not mean that the item will not make you some money. Very dissopointed and would not recommend selling antiques at this price-point...

Based upon my experience, Bonhams' auction services are exemplary in every respect: The customer service Ella Jerman-Riddell provided in promptly supplying an accurate and detailed condition report with additional images of the lot in which I had an interest was excellent. Additionally, after completion of the auction, Ella was remained extraordinarily helpful in accommodating my special shipping handling requests and including relevant provenance to be included in the shipment with the auction lot.

Very friendly people. They valued my gmt master II pepsi rolex for free. I bought it from ebay and wasnt sure about the authenticity because i got it for under a thousand pounds. They checked it and told me it was a very good fake so i returned it and got a refund from PayPal.

Rolex are a bit funny i went to various rolex shops in central lobdon but all of them said they will not do authenticity checks on used rolexes.
