ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE.
They ignored my email I sent to them. You can see how they ignore the bad reviews too and only are attentive to the good ones. Reporting this to FSA for poor hand hygiene.
Summary: DISGUSTING.
My partner caught the waiter leaving the toilet without washing his hands. UNHYGIENIC - we threw the food away. They were rude and slow and we were the ONLY two people on the entire restaurant floor. Multiple workers ignoring us, on their phones, waiting for the bill for 15 mins. Food was disgusting, dry and overpriced. If you want actual turkish or mediterranean food go to green lanes.
See below for full experience and email sent that they’ve brushed over and pretend they haven’t received.
Dear Team.
I came to your restaurant at Bishopsgate today at around 7:30pm and left just before 9pm.
My partner and I were walk ins and were greeted by a wonderful host who instructed us to go upstairs to the restaurant.
We were seated and ordered the food. We were shocked at the level of service received for an a place that we had heard good things about.
The food was extremely below average, I ordered the lamb shank and a few sides for the table. When served the water before the food had come, the waiter (asian man) was very abrupt with us to move our hands on the table. There was plenty of space for him to put the glasses down but he specifically interrupted our conversation (it is our 5 year anniversary so we were having a discussion). We ignored that but it made us both feel awkward. When the food was served, I could see that the lamb was very dry, I asked the waiter if there is any kind of gravy or sauce for it. He turned and gave me a sharp look and did not answer my question and left the table.
The food was terrible and I did not finish it, we waited for a while for someone’s attention to ask for takeaway boxes to give the food to anyone homeless we see as we didn’t want to waste it. It took a long time to get someone’s attention which is ridiculous as we were the ONLY two customers on the whole floor and there was 3/4 people working that we could see on our side. The female on the floor was on her phone sending voice notes and did not look up for some time. Having being the only two customers and with multiple people working there was no reason to be kept ignored and waiting for long. We finally put the food in the takeaway boxes, asked for the bill and asked to remove the service charge. The waiter (a different one to the one before) walked away without saying anything and came back with a new bill without the service charge. I paid and asked where the toilets were which I then went down the stairs to. My partner went in first as I waited outside with the takeaway bag (I didn’t want to take the food in the toilet).
One of the waiters walked out and past me into the elevator then my partner followed outside and said that man did not wash his hands in the toilet. I was disgusted that this person handles our food and didn’t wash his hands. When we walked back up to leave we gave the food back to the bar as we didn’t want to even give the food away to anyone homeless as we were so disgusted with the lack of hygiene portrayed. All of the bad service aside we could look past it but with this on top, we are genuinely disgusted with our experience at your restaurant.
Avoid at all costs. I have NEVER left a review in my life but this NEEDS...

Haz Bar & Restaurant in Bishopsgate, London, has once again proven why it's a cherished favourite for my family and me. Our recent dining experience was nothing short of sensational.
Starters That Set the Stage We began our gastronomic journey with an impressive selection of starters that left us eager for more. The Babaganoush was a creamy dream, its smoky undertones taking us straight to the Mediterranean. The Calamari was a delightful symphony of crispy and tender, the Sauteed Prawns a testament to freshness, and the Sucuk? Mind-blowingly amazing, with its rich, spicy flavours making a lasting impression.
Mains That Satisfy Moving on to the mains, we were met with a delectable array of options. The Chargrilled Rib Eye Steak was the epitome of perfection and bursting with flavour. The Lamb Shish Kofte was a revelation, each bites a succulent blend of spices and tender meat. But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly my wife's choice, the Lamb Tagine. It was a Moroccan masterpiece, with tender lamb melting in the mouth, and aromatic spices that transported us to the bustling markets of Marrakech.
Our meal was a true celebration of flavours and a testament to the culinary expertise of Haz's kitchen. The staff were friendly and accommodating, ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

Read moreAttended venue expecting Turkish food, similar to that available throughout North East London, but extremely dissappointed and let down. Ordered two mixed meze and got four very small bowls, enough to feed a child and the bread served was stale, and for this pleasure we coughed up £18 (£9 each for mixed meze and bread you could smashed windows with). Other restaurants make and serve their own fresh warm breads, but here it's old purchased bread. We cut our loses and asked for the bill after starters and went to Efes down the road for REAL Turkish food and REAL portions. Anyone wanting a nice Turkish meal should avoid this place at all costs, as they spend more effort in being contemporary with a live violin player in the corner, than serving proper food and decent portions. Being Turkish myself, I could comfortablely say that, I have seen nothing like this here in London or in Turkey itself. Would recommend the following restaurants for a proper Turkish experience Gokuyzu, Aksular, Kervan and Vadi They have no violin player, but they all make their own breads FRESH and you would struggle to finish your plate with the portions they serve. Plus your meze is complimentary as it should be and not £18. Embarrassment to Turkish...
