Very poor customer service experience at Oxford Street .I was trying different shoes, one pair being without price.I asked for the price, one of the sales assistant tidying up the shoes. She came back after a while with a price- £34.99.Decided to take it and went on to pay at the till.Different person at the till asked me to wait while they check online for the price(btw if you check the retail price online its the same with what tkmaxx offers).I told them that another sales assistant already ckecked and the price i was told is £34.99.They went on to double check whilest i was waiting on the till.Came back and confirmed that the price is £34.99.The way that they said it,wasn't very convincing and it become suspicious. The next day i went to TK Maxx Camden where i purchesed 2 sets of towels(Oxford only had one set).Decided to have a walk and found the same shoes, same size for a cheaper price £32.Went on to Oxford street today and explained the situation. The answer from the sales assistant on the till"we get the same product over a period of time but with different price from the supplier".Sure.This was one day difference only.I found the same set of towels for the same price at Oxford and Camden.3weeks ago i bought coffee at a different TKMaxx and today at Oxford street, the price was the same.So that answer does not sit right. Was offered to speak to the manager whilest she(the manager) was listening to the conversation behind my back.No reaction from her side(she however reacted with a customer that was helped on the till, before me).Manager's answer, probably the same. An advice for the customers,to be mindfull in case they want to buy something that doesn't have a price tag-TKMaxx/their managers can be price changers but only to take an extra pound out of your pocket.Poor way to...
Read moreDuring a recent family trip to London, I visited the TK Maxx store on Oxford Street with my 8-year-old daughter. While inside the accessible fitting room, a fire alarm was triggered and the store was completely evacuated — but no one came to check the fitting rooms. My daughter was in her underwear at the time, and we were completely unaware of what was happening. We only realized something was wrong when the floor went silent and I noticed a burning smell. I quickly helped her get dressed and ran out with her in my arms.
Outside, my wife was trying to alert the staff that her husband and daughter were still inside, but received no assistance. This was not a drill — it was a terrifying situation that could have ended tragically.
The next day, despite the emotional impact, I returned to the store with my wife to retrieve the items we had selected — but none had been set aside. A staff member told me everything had been returned to the racks. We still made a purchase of £218, even though we couldn’t find everything again.
I shared all of this with customer service and requested fair compensation of £1,000 for the trauma and loss. Their only response was to offer a £50 gift card — which I cannot even use, since I live in Brazil.
As a father and a tourist, I am deeply disappointed by the way this was handled. TK Maxx claims to prioritise customer safety, but this incident — and their response —...
Read moreI recently visited the TK Maxx store and left feeling extremely disappointed. From the moment I walked in, the experience was underwhelming. Almost every item I picked up felt cheap, dated, and far from appealing. The store gave me the impression of a second-hand shop rather than a reputable retailer.
To make things worse, the pricing was absurd. For example, I saw a Tommy Hilfiger jacket priced at £130 — the exact same jacket can be purchased brand new and in perfect condition at a Tommy Hilfiger store for less. Nothing in the shop felt worth the price; in fact, most items seemed like they should be sold for pennies, not pounds.
The staff only added to the disappointment. One employee standing by the watch counter was on his phone, clearly engaged in personal chatting. When I politely asked him to assist me with viewing a watch, his response was: “Ask someone else, I’m not free.” This level of rudeness and disinterest is completely unacceptable, especially when he was doing nothing productive.
Overall, this was a ridiculous shopping experience. With so many amazing stores on Oxford Street, I strongly recommend skipping TK Maxx entirely and buying directly from brand stores instead. At least there, you get genuine products, fair prices, and respectful...
