Trevor Sorbie — Local services in London

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Trevor Sorbie salon – not once, but twice. I took time off work on both occasions to be a paying model, only to be let down each time. The first appointment was cancelled without warning because the head stylist simply didn’t show up. The second time, after clearly explaining my hair history (including box dye use) and sending photos in advance as requested, I was told they couldn’t do my hair after I arrived. This was especially frustrating given that their model call specifically asked for people needing box dye removed.

I was instead offered a root touch-up, when I asked if this could be done as a goodwill gesture, considering the service I had booked was cancelled and the inconvenience I had experienced, I was told I was “getting angry” and "raising my voice" – which was completely untrue and frankly felt racially charged.

After this, a lady claiming to be the CEO came out and said that because I wasn't a paying customer I had no right to complain (despite the fact I was willing to pay for the original service if they had carried it out). This felt extremely dismissive and insulting.

A waste of time, money, and energy. No accountability from the salon and absolutely terrible customer service - especially from the CEO of the company. It left a clear message that customers (especially model bookings and people of colour) are not valued...

I’ve had a few appointments for smoothing treatments with Trevor sorbie and it’s always been a positive experience.

I would especially like to mention my last appointment with Wai.

After having my last smoothing treatment I felt the results were not that same as previous treatments, I called the Richmond salon as that’s where i’d had the treatment, the salon manager was really friendly and accommodating and arranged for me to have a consultation with Wai at the Covent Garden salon to try and see what might have happened. Wai was very warm and welcoming from the beginning and really listened to what I had to say. After chatting with some colleagues she invited me in to have a complimentary conditioning treatment and hair cut.

I’ve avoided haircuts at the hairdressers for years as I have a sensitive scalp and often find it quite uncomfortable having somebody else manage my curly hair. I’ve also had some negative experiences with haircuts going wrong or feeling as if the hairdressers have not heard what I’ve asked for (at other salons, not TS)

Wai was absolutely amazing, the best haircut experience I’ve ever had. She’s incredibly skilled and has a lovely calm energy. She also gives the best head massage!

I’m glad I had the issue with my previous treatment or I might have never had the opportunity to have such a wonderful experience with Wai.

I love my haircut and can’t recommend...

I won’t even talk about my haircut which, by the way, is absolutely fabulous! Instead, I want to talk about Wendy’s wonderful attitude toward her clients. From the moment I sat in her chair, I felt pampered, listened to, and genuinely cared for. Wendy had thought of every detail - from handing me my glasses so I could see her progress, to carefully discussing my preferences, hairstyle, and lifestyle. She went meticulously through her plan before starting, and her attention to detail was remarkable. She had even prepared in advance for my appointment, remembering that I requested unscented products. Then she took every precaution, even when washing and conditioning my hair, to ensure there was not the slightest trace of fragrance. Wendy seems to derive genuine satisfaction from caring for and connecting with people, which may explain her excellence in service-based, relational work like hairdressing. To me, she instantly felt like a long-time friend. Her warmth feels effortless because it is genuine. She listens deeply, is divinely patient, and has a gift for making others feel not just beautiful but valued. In every sense, Wendy is one of life’s rare souls: authentic, humble, intelligent, fun, nurturing, and luminous. She doesn’t just style hair - she lifts spirits. Being around her makes you feel better about the world. A true asset to the Covent...
