Came here for dinner yesterday and it was absolutely appalling. Let me start off by saying that two of us ordered the mussels which gave us FOOD POISONING.
The staff were also completely clueless and rude. Our table was booked for half 7, we ordered and received our starters fairly quickly and then we waited OVER AN HOUR for our mains, seeing people who had come after us being served. During that hour no one at any point came over and asked if we were ok, do we want more drinks or even to clear our plates away. Finally we had to complain that we had been waiting for our food and by a miracle they came out straight away - how long had they been left there? Well the food was cold and stale so you can imagine.
We were celebrating a birthday and had no time to get dessert as we had a show we needed to be at for 10pm and thought two and half hours would be enough time (but clearly not here).
When we received the bill and told our waiter all of the above, we got a very disgusted look questioning us if it had really been an hour (we arrived at half 7 and we were leaving at 9.50 having just finished our mains so work out the math?)
When we requested not to pay the service charge (because what are you seriously paying for when you're ignored for that long and receive cold food), we were again questioned and met with a very cold and rude response. When your customers have had that awful an experience the only response you should give is an apology at the very least.
In this time we also heard two separate tables ask for the bill because they'd been waiting and they needed to leave and another asking where their food was, so unfortunately it wasn't just us.
There are much, much nicer restaurants in eat at in London where you'll be able to eat food that is cooked well and hygienically, and you'll receive much better, warmer...

There are some seating upstairs with tables, but we walked downstairs in the seller which I must say is dark crammed and somewhat musky. We had a table for 11 which was flushed against the wall which made it very difficult for guest to get into the seats as the end seating was a bench similar to a church bench and there was a wall which had to walk around to get to the opposite side of the table , via some other diners in a different room.
The foie gras was actually below par, the brioche over toasted and dry. The garlic flavoured olives was over powered by the garlic and hazardous to one’s breath!
The scallops which came as a three were small scallops and had an Asiatic sauce to it with lemongrass rather than the classical French but tasted good and above average.
The cassoulet de Toulouse : the beans with pieces pork and sausage with grilled duck leg was good. The beans was flavoured with the pork pieces which was rich and fat based.
The lemon tart was average, too tart and the crème brûlée was above average as nice creamy and the sugar layer not too thick.
Wine selection was good some above-average wines but a lot of it was over prized for what it was and poorly rated.
Service was average, at times the table was over filled with glasses as we had water glass, champagne before the food and white and red wine. The speed to turnaround of the glasses and removal was slow.
The general ambiance was not great crammed crowded noisy musky dark.
Toilets was...
Read moreWe visited Le Garrick for our pre-theatre dinner. Our order was taken and starters came out in good time. After waiting half an hour I asked our server how long our mains would take as our show started at 7pm. It appeared our order was not sent through to the kitchen and we were left waiting. We had no update or apology from the staff. Every single table around us had received their mains before us even though we were one of the first bookings at 5.30pm.
After 15 minutes with no update our food eventually arrived completely cold. Having only 15 minutes to make it to the theatre we rushed our main courses and ate what was edible. I asked for the bill and was presented with the cheque. After explaining to the server we were not happy to pay full price given the terrible service and lack of update or apology - he simply took the bill to the manager and did not both to ask what had happened etc. The manager came back to say she had removed service charge - I do not see this as a gesture as service charge is optional.
I've been to Le Garrick many times and had lovely dinners. Having brought family to this restaurant for them to experience it I can say that I will not be returning. It seems as though if you opt for the pre theatre menu you will be forgotten. They are more interested in the customers ordering from the main menu and buying bottles of wine. The lack of manners from staff clearly shows customer service has gone down hill and is not important anymore. We left Le Garrick hungry having not been able to...
