AVOID
Getting a response about anything including emergencies took well over a week every time and multiple follow ups.
There were lots of occasions where we have had no hot water for long periods of time. The longest time we had no hot water was a full week, we couldn’t get a response from the staff throughout that time and felt like they really didn’t care. One of the staff even came in on day 6 of no water and said: “how do you live with no hot water?”. Well, we didn’t have much choice when it is impossible to get anything fixed. Response times are absolutely shocking, the only way to contact them at all is the short hours the building is staffed so if you work any job with normal hours you can forget it. Even if you do manage to catch someone, you won’t get anything resolved anyway.
To top it all off, the ironworks has decided to create their own energy company and hit us with a lump sum “heating” bill of £740 having already spent £800 on electricity throughout the year. Apparently they have a different “biomass heating system” they forgot to inform us of - if you look on rightmove and see their EPC rating of B, and that the average energy bill for the year would be £577 for a 2 bed flat - you’ll need to budget for triple that. Maybe put aside a bit monthly so you aren’t put into debt by their last minute claims. See photo for their government EPC rating and...
Read moreI applied for a property with Iron works through plum life who manage the management and letting. I was struggling to gain a reference from my previous landlord due to the landlord outlining that they do no do references. I advised this continuously to plum life and I received a call on the 18th of July from a lady from plum life outlining that this was in hand and would contact me the very next morning with the solution. Today is the 11th of September with no response or contact from plum life. I have emailed numerous times with no response from plum life outlining I want a refund of my 100 pound that I placed to secure the property. This company is awaiting for the 90 days to run through so they do not have to refund it. I have also contacted Iron works out of common decency to contact plumlife for a refund as they will not respond to myself and of course iron works won’t do this cause it is of no benefit to do so. Sad reality of how things are now. Avoid both company's at all costs as I can only imagine the lack of communication once you are...
Read more1️⃣ - I was misled by the letting staff. He provided the wrong price for the room and stated that the deposit is non-refundable, which I find unethical😓
2️⃣ - Lving here for 7 months, the heating controller has been broken for six months. I reported the issue twice when it first happened, but no one addressed it until about two weeks before I was set to move out.
It is okay without heating, but I received a bill for £621 over three months for heating and hot water (which only covers hot water, i need to pay for water and electricity extra). I tried to resolve the issue with the ironworks and the supplier, but they kept passing responsibility back and forth, leaving me to figure out the problem on my own.
There have been several issues here. I even have to check my own camera in my room when I travel because there are safety concerns, and there are no cameras in my hallway.
Anyway, I’m happy to be moving out soon as this place don't felt...
