Nestled in the heart of Kelham Island, Sheffield, 5tara Restaurant is a true culinary gem that beautifully captures the essence of Indian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm, inviting vibes. The elegant yet cozy lighting creates an atmosphere that perfectly complements the relaxing decor, soothing the soul and delighting the senses.
5tara offers a splendid range of desi food that caters to all tastes. One of my personal favorites is the Kukkad Angare Wala, a fiery chicken dish that's bursting with flavors and spices, cooked to perfection.
The Desi Thali, especially popular at lunchtime, is a symphony of tastes and textures. It provides a well-rounded meal that showcases the diversity of Indian cuisine. Each dish in the Thali is crafted with care and authenticity, making it the perfect choice if you want to experience a bit of everything.
Other mouth-watering delicacies on the menu include the rich and creamy Butter Chicken, the tender and flavorful Lamb Rogan Josh, and an array of street food delights like the crisp and spicy Pani Puri and the savory, satisfying Pav Bhaji. Every dish is a testament to 5tara's commitment to quality and authenticity, ensuring that every visit is memorable.
The ambiance and heartfelt welcome at 5tara are other reasons why this place stands out. The decor is elegant yet comfortable, with thoughtful touches that make you feel right at home. 5tara Restaurant in Kelham Island is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates genuine desi cuisine. Read moreFinally got a chance and visited them last night and I felt like I was teleported back to India. The ambience reminded me of so many things back home, they've kept things to let people know about the culture and things we love in India. With Punjabi music playing, nothing could set the vibe better.
Coming to the food, hands down the best Indian I've had in the UK. I mean, they do have several awards and they truly deserve many more! The owner was there himself and his passion towards the brand itself made me realise why 5tara has been running so well. He gave us a brief about their outlet in Duke Street and I can't wait to be there soon! We tried a few starters and their sev tamatar with tawa naan, trust me I can't even describe how delicious this was with the perfect balance of flavors. Every single dish was just mind blowing. Their tawa naan is out of the world!
Though they don't have student discounts at the moment, the owner was really kind to waive off the service charge so it didn't get too heavy on our pockets. Such thoughtfulness made my dinner even better! 100% gonna visit them v often, highly highly...

We booked a few weeks in advance and the whole process was easy enough and confirmed quickly. We arrived just in time for our booking. There only seemed to be one member of staff working. They directed us to our seats whilst serving someone else. Shortly after being seated our order was taken. Food came out quite quickly and the server seemed a little scatty. They forgot drinks or would say they’d fetch us something and just forgot. The server kept talking to the table next to us with a dog, constantly bringing it treats. The table next to us got all the stuff they ordered quite promptly but we had to remind the server once or twice for stuff. Another member of staff appeared and went table to table speaking and interacting but didn’t approach us at all. Finally, when we came to pay, it was another rush and server was gone again. Whilst the food was great - the staff created an atmosphere that we were not wanted. Again, great food but awkward atmosphere. I’ll be in no...
