I was really excited to visit the brand-new Grocery Outlet in Abington since it just opened yesterday. I wanted to support a new business in the area and check out the deals. Unfortunately, my experience today was disappointing and uncomfortable.

There was a large display of sealed boxes in the middle of the store floor with a big sign showing $6.99. The boxes were stacked together with other items nearby, so it looked like they were being sold as-is for that price. Out of curiosity, I opened one box to see what was inside and decided to buy two of them.

When I went to check out, the cashier said they couldn’t sell them that way and called a manager. Instead of calmly explaining the situation, the manager came over with an attitude, was short and dismissive, and even snatched the boxes to hurry and put them back and open them all before I could take a picture but I remembered I already had a picture because I sent a picture to my mom asking if she wanted a box . The manager/and cashier then said, “It was too busy yesterday, and that pallet hasn’t been opened yet,” in a very rude tone — which made no sense, because the boxes were clearly out on the floor with a price sign above them. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. I wasn’t trying to cause any trouble I just wanted to buy what was marked for sale. I understand if there was a misunderstanding or if the boxes weren’t meant to be sold yet, but the way it was handled was unacceptable. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. For a store that just opened, this is not the kind of first impression you want customers to have. I hope management provides better training on communication and customer service because I left feeling disrespected and...

The store overall has small foot print as it once was a rite aid. The store was clean and aisles were well stocked on product they have available. Any interactions with employees was positive. My cashier, Russell, was friendly and provided a speedy checkout.

Only con I had was sometimes the giant yellow price signs would block the view point of the aisles markers on what is in the aisle. This of course depends on where you...
