Since there is no provision for “no stars,” I was forced to rate this travesty of a “seafood restaurant” one star. Where to start? We were seated quickly by a polite waitress, who delivered good service throughout our meal. Unfortunately, the food we ordered was very sub-par! The items our group ordered were the lobster tail boil with butter garlic sauce, the black mussels in butter garlic sauce and the boiled scallops with sweet potato fries. Our drinks came out first, with the beer we ordered served warm. Not a good start. Our meals came out in about twenty minutes. The lobster boil and mussels were served in a large plastic bag on a round plate. The bags were hugely inflated, reminding me of Jiffy Pop popcorn. The waitress opened the bags to deflate them and served them, along with the scallop order. All of the food was cool, not hot as it should have been. I wish that was the worst of it, but it wasn’t! The taste of the mussels, in a “butter garlic” sauce was awful. This is not like any butter garlic I’ve ever seen or tasted. The sauce was orange in color, and very spicy. It seemed more like an Old Bay sauce. The sauce in both the lobster and mussel dishes overpowered the seafood. Boiled red potatoes served in the bag were hard and tasteless, aside from the horrible sauce. The scallops were the only bright spot in a mundane meal. They were plump and good tasting, but again, sprinkled with Old Bay that was not expected. Our group also decided that there wasn’t any real cooking going on in the kitchen. Everything served seemed to be microwaved. The prices were not overly high, but not for the quality of the food we were served. I’ve saved the best part for last. Six hours after eating this meal, I began to have stomach pains and severe diarrhea :( I don’t mean to gross anyone out, but I’m still sick after twelve hours of this. My recommendation?...
Read moreI walked into Crafty Crab’s Abington location to place a to go order and when I walked in no one was at the front desk which was fine because perhaps it was busy… turns out it wasn’t. I stood at the front desk for nearly 5 mins and no one approached or greeted me or asked if they could help me. A waitress then comes to the front but doesn’t address or even look at me so I say to her ‘where can I place a to go order?’ Because perhaps I’m in the wrong area of the restaurant to do so. She then says ‘you can place an order here (the front desk) or the bar’….Oh good to know… I then place my order and when I return to the restaurant I see a bag sitting on a rack and I think it might be for me but AGAIN the front desk is empty. So I’m waiting for someone to approach. The SAME waitress that took my order walks past me twice with no eye contact so then I assume my order’s NOT ready because surely she would have handed me my order if it was. Then a second waitress comes to the front desk and also doesn’t greet me or ask if I need assistance. So I ask her if the order under my name is ready… sure enough the bag that was sitting in the rack is the one she gives me; then before she gives it to me asks me if I paid for it…which I already had…. It was a to go order. I normally wouldn’t even recap this experience because as annoying as it was it wasn’t that huge of a deal as far as restaurant experiences go. But food prices are way to high these days to receive not even bare minimum service. So if decent customer service is important to you know that you may not receive it at Crafty Crab...
Read moreOur family of 5 came to eat here 7/22 and ordered around 5:15pm We ordered an appetizer and 3 meals.
Calamari 1/2lb shrimp (told him the sauce choice and heat preference) Fried shrimp basket 1/2 crawfish-1/2 snowcrab
Calamari and fried shrimp basket came out in a good amount of time.
Next came out 1/2 crawfish-1/2 shrimp
Even though it was wrong, we didn't say anything.
We waited a while after that and then got the waiters attention and asked when the 1/2lb shrimp was going to come out. He acted confused and said he had misunderstood and thought I was ordering the fried shrimp basket instead and said he would get the order in. I had to tell him again what sauce I wanted. Waited some more and then he brought out crab legs. I kind of laughed, incredulous and said it was not what I had ordered. He tried to excuse himself and said he never got orders wrong. I let him know he had also gotten the other order wrong as well. He tried to insist that I had ordered the crab and that he hadn't made a mistake. We tried to be cool about it and said we'd keep it but asked for the tool for breaking open crab legs. They didn't have any. At this point I was very hungry and pretty frustrated. He finally realized I was not happy and put in the order for the shrimp but by that point Everyone else was done eating and ready to leave so we had to get it to go. They didn't give us anything else off for the order that was messed up or for the wait time. So we spent about $70 on an absolutely horrible experience with probably the worst waiter we...
