I have an 18 year old truck I bought new in 2002, I love this truck and want to always have it. The two bucket seats were worn especially the drivers. I collected a few bids from shops in my area and found them to be expensive and wanting to use a "kit" manufactured in China. Not wanting to have anything Chinese in my truck I kept looking for the "right" shop. After much looking I ran across Kirkham's, I called, and the owner answered the phone! We talked about what I had and what I wanted. I was invited to travel to American Fork to check out the shop and discuss the details. After visiting the shop and talking to Mr. Kirkham I was sold. Chase described what and how the Chinese kits were built and how cheep they are. Chase explained to me my seat covers would be fabricated from scratch by hand using only the finest materials and craftsmanship. We agreed to a price (not much higher than the kits) and I turned my precious truck over to Kirkham's. The work was completed on schedule and the price didn't change. I am more than completely satisfied, the leather is much softer than the stock material and the workmanship is superb, the color matches the interior exactly and I can only describe it as "Old World Craftsmanship" the stitching and fit is perfect (I'm very fussy)! Take your upholstery job to Kirkhams, you won't be...
Read moreWent in for a quote and he didn't give me the time of day. The definition of smug. I walked in, up to the front counter and I'm guessing because I'm not an "old buddy" he asked "Do you need something?" Obviously, I walked into your store for your business. So I told him my situation that I wanted a quote for having my seats re-upholstered. I told him I have a good budget and am ready for that phase of my project. I brought in great pictures of what I had to work with but he wouldn't even look at them. Told me they were too busy. Then some random guy walked in the door that was apparently a "buddy" because he actually greeted him, asked him about his work and talked with him. I stood there a few more moments until I realized he walked out of the show room to talk to the other guy and our conversation probably wasn't going to go anywhere. So if you're not a friend of the family, good luck getting anything done with them. Apparently they hate what they do but they have so much business that they can't hire extra help to keep...
Read moreThey first clue should've been noticing that the store is a disaster. Materials and projects strewn all over the place. If you can't take pride in your business and have a little attention to your OWN details, what kind of attention to detail do you think they'll show YOU? I brought in a single piece for a big project I'm working on and provided the fabric. I specifically stated that I knew it would need to be stretched and requested that the stretching be done on the side that was out of view of passenger and NOT on the top where it would be most visible. Where did they stretch it? On the top. I inquired about having a door panel done in the same fabric and they couldn't commit to duplicating the results "without wrinkles." I then showed them several pictures of perfect results done DIY by amateurs using the same material. The guy was doing his best to make sure I knew not to expect the same results. Lastly, they quoted me on re-upholstering a bench that ended up being double of what I paid elsewhere. Forget these guys....
