IT Evolution — Local services in Appleton

Brought in my laptop for a cleaning, inside and out (~$100) When I picked it up I was told I may need a new hard drive soon. Sure enough, I started noticing a clicking a little later on and my hardrive died shortly thereafter. It’s an older computer but I had never had any issues prior to this.

I purchased a used chrome book (~$75) to use while I considered future options for my computer needs. I was told it came with a month warranty where I could return it for a fee within that month. Shortly after a month, a crop of issues popped up on the chrome book. The speaker emits a high pitched sound constantly unless headphones are plugged in. Half of the screen sometimes shuts off or flickers due to a bad connection in one of the hinges. I do not let my laptops bang around. They are kept in one place and I am gentle with them.

The customer service was fine and everyone I’ve interacted with has been very polite, but it seems to be a running theme that about a month after I get a service or product things go bad. I cannot in good conscience recommend this store, but maybe I just...

The only reason this is not a 5 star is because i do feel like the owner needs to improve on communication skills because i stayed in contact since the drop off and still was confused on the price point. With that being said expect to pay around $180-200 for diagnostics and drop off fee. I %100 believe that’s fair because this guy will figure it out. He accepted my custom build a couple hours before close and 2 days before a long vacation which was a little frightening to me but he figured it out by the next morning (I can only imagine how late he stayed up) and i replaced the part myself. My computer crashed and Jorge was very helpful. The computer was unable to be saved because the hard drive was worn-out and the mother board couldn't be upgraded to Windows 11. Jorge did have some used business computers that he could upgrade with a solid state drive for a very reasonable price. My new to me used computer is lightning fast compared to my old computer. Jorge also returned my old hard drive to me for security purposes. Luckily I had a backup portable hard drive that I used to restore my files to my new computer. Jorge was super helpful and I am pleased that he was able to set me up with a better computer at a reasonable price.
