Nice facility, VERY POOR experience! For those who don't want to read it all, DON'T call the reservation number to book! He flat lied about getting me the room I asked for and the clerk at check-in made the situation worse by being superficially polite in the MOST unhelpful and condescending way possible. The appearance and luxury touches have been carefully attended to, but the service and overall atmosphere is lacking. For such a prime location and lovingly crafted cocoon of comfort, I was terribly disappointed.
Completely untrustworthy phone reservation contract company. There was NO way he could have misunderstood what I was asking for and made a inferior reservation that was NOT what I had clearly specified and discussed with him at length.
Front desk staff that ranges from, icy superiority to invasively friendly to oblivious to anyone walking by. There is always a way to make a customer dealing with difficulties feel appreciated and accommodated. My check-in clerk made ZERO effort to soften the blow of a botched reservation and simply dumped up-charges on me.
Rye restaurant needs a reality check on their menu. There's a difference between high end and excessively fussy ingredients.
Parking is not easily accessible from the only outside entrance to the lobby and the hotel has made zero effort to work with the city to provide a good experience for their patrons. No effort to make paying for parking simpler, or to ensure that the facility is not being trashed by vagrants sleeping in the elevators. The back entrance into the spa should instead be available for hotel guests to not have to tromp half way around the building in the bitter wind.
I could easily go on (bottom grade thin toilet paper), but I am trying to be reasonable about the poor experience of what should have been a rather lovely stay.
Update: I did try an excessively fussy cocktail from the Rye restaurant bar. I have to admit the combo of blackberry and lavender was interesting especially combined with the hint of lemon from the garnish. For my check out it appears the manager was on duty and displayed the customer service you would expect at the desk of a nicer hotel. He stated that he would not be charging me the up-charges to get the room my reservation botched. On the whole, the hotel isn't bad it just needs some minor tweaks. Just be SURE you have the actual hotel staff if you choose to...
Read moreMy daughter just got married, we booked a room for her and my son inlaw bc this is where we stayed after my husband and i got married, and her husband was wearing his blues (army). He is the nicest guy you'll every meet. He is not rude by any means however I will say what i think. We booked a room like i said and paid for it months ago, it came out of our credit card. They couldn't check in bc Julie, the counter hotel lady said it was not paid. While they were standing talking to me, my daughter called me crying, in her wedding dress, bc julie said nothing was paid for. I had to call the hotel bc julie wouldn't get on the phone with me via my daughter's phone. Julie put me on hold for over 10mins! I called back and said I'm on my way there to take care this issue, can you please let them go up to the room that I already paid for that i have to pay again for, bc they just got married she's crying in her dress and he's apologizing to julie for the mishap, blah blah, Julie said no. I said, I'm on my way there, my daughter is crying, they've had a long day.. i wil pay and sign for everything when i get there. She said she couldn't. I asked for a manager. She said there wasn't one there. I get to the hotel, pay for the room, help my daughter and her husband carry everything up to their room and my son in law tells me that when he told julie sorry for the mishap and how hard it must be to be in that position she was in it must be hard.. she didn't even acknowledge him or anything. He wouldn't say anything and didn't say anything rude to her at all.. however i did! I came back down and went right up to julie and said, when a man in uniform, sacrificing for you for this country and he apologizes to you, you acknowledge him! He was never rude, he honors the oath he made in the army and he wears his suite proudly. It affected him that he was treated so disrespectfully after he was trying to defuse the situation. I will never recommend this hotel ever again. It doesn't cater to newly weds nor do their staff even acknowledged them, say congratulations nothing. They are robots there. The rooms are nice but the staff and how its ran is not...
Read moreFirst I'll start this out with what is good. Room was great, fire place worked nice, jacuzzi was very nice(although no instructions how to use had to figure it out) and the overall cleanness of room was superb. Now for the bad.
Staff when we arrived was stand-offish, dare I say arrogant. Later found out that even though an offer thru Expedia (romantic package - Champaign and chocolates) that was suppose to be with what I ordered was not valid do to me not placing the reservation thru CopperLeaf themselves. Even though it was the same price I paid for thru Expedia. Then the soaps for shower only had hair conditioner rather then both (minor detail but still aggravating). Then when I had called the front desk on multiple occasions about different things (one was just simply to make sure of the check-out time) and had to re-dial multiple times for someone to finally answer. And to top things off, my girlfriend decided to eat on of the chocolate bars in the fridge that you could charge to the room. Only to find out that after taking the first bite, that the bar was 6 months past expiration date. And then in the morning we decided to purchase the breakfast. Alls I have to say about the food was, it DEFINITELY should have been a complementary breakfast. Because nothing about the breakfast was worth the price.
To sum up everything, I feel as the hotel is riding its own coattails. Like they use to be known for great service, but have become plaisant. The room was great, just wished I could have said the same for about anything else...
