American Rental Home Furnishings — Local services in Athens

Renting something here has been the most horrible experience i have had renting anything anywhere. The store manager (Connie Wolfe) is very rude & put a guy out of the store while i was there, he was only trying explain a mess up on American Rentals fault, The delivery "boys" know nothing about there job ,and dont want to lift no more than they have to, I rented what was they said a new item & it did not work like it should, so they did bring a loaner item while mine is getting repaired, when a water bug came out of it, but they promised they cleaned it and there were no more bugs, They are very disrespectful, Please for your sake and dont have to go through what im going through with them, ill take my losses and never step foot inside there again, And hope you take this advice, You will wished you did, If you rent anything from American Rentals in Athens, TN 7-7-2018 (First of all the loaner wash machine having water bugs running out of it, is no miscommunication! And theres not enough room here to put the stuff i have dealt with since renting it! 7-12-22018 (Since buyig the washer, my payment was due on the 8th of each month ,so last month when the payment was made, Ms Wolfe said my payments will be on the 6th of each month, called this month to make a payment & she said that she never said it was due on the 6th, That it is due on the 1st or 3rd & Now my payment is over due, so they can have the washer back. Not anyone there knows how to run a business even the Manager CONNIE WOLFE. This has been the biggest nightmare a person could have just to make payments & buy a wash machine! JUST FOR ANYONES THAT HAS TO RENT SOMETHING, FOR YOUR SAKE THEY ARE OTHER RENTAL STORES IN ATHENS THAT KNOW WHAT THERE DOING, IM JUST TELLING EVERYONE SO YOU WONT MAKE THE SAME TERRIBLE MISTAKE THAT I MADE BY DOING BUSINESS WITH AMERICAN RENTALS of ATHENS, TN. Professional and friendly staff. The store is well kept and easy to browse through. All around great experience from walking into the store, to having my furniture delivered. My family has been going to American Rental for over 10 years and will continue to shop at the Athens store.

I absolutely love working with the staff at American Rental. Renting to own furniture and electronics from the store has branched out to my adult children, because they know how great the staff has treated me through the years. I am grateful !!!

It is now over 15 years since we have been shopping at American Rental. I have bought everything from beds, refrigerators, stoves, washer and dryers, living room furniture, computers and gaming systems. My family's favorite thing that we purchased from American Rental recently is my mobility scooter. The rent to own system is the only way we can could ever afford to buy these items, because we live paycheck to paycheck. If you go by the store and do not see something you are looking for, ask Stephanie or one of her staff, and they will be happy to help!

On November 7th, 2024 I was able to present for the $10,000.00 giveaway at American Rental. It was an exciting time that day, The customers were able to meet the owner David David and chat with other staff during the event. They gave away bags of goodies and had a table of goodies to snack on. If you want to see who the winner of the $10,000.00 is, they have a huge check up in the store with the winner's name on it. I was given a bean bag chair that turns into a bed. I was shocked, when David David, told me! This bean bag chair/bed is top quality for a bean bag chair. I am excited to have this item in my room! The rudest people ever I have rented from these people for a very long time with never a problem then when Connie came in as manager I’ve had nothing but issues with them I fell behind and called to try and make partial payments to help get caught up and was refused any payment at all. Connie showed up at my home at 10 pm at night banging on the door and of course rude to my husband. I tried to call again to make some kind of payment and was refused. So I just gave up finally when they came to get the stuff I had rented 1 almost 2 years ago and the other over a year ago my son came to door and she was very rude and threatened my son with the police he is 15 years old. He was scared and upset that this rude lady he had never seen before threatened him and called him a liar. Connie stood in my yard yelling I know ur in there when my son shut the door. That was completely unprofessional for one she refused any type of payment I tried to make. And then acted like that towards my child. I would absolutely never ever ever refer anyone to rent anything from Connie at all... funny thing is mellissa who worked there before was amazing and worked with people but Connie is a rude hateful evil person who should never ever work in the public at all.
