I originally booked the body butter-making class on Groupon for $90 for both my friend and I. But when I called to reserve, I was told they don’t accept Groupon. They asked me to cancel and book through their own website instead, assuring me they’d honor the Groupon price with a coupon. Unfortunately, that wasn’t true. I ended up paying $114. I didn’t mind too much because I was excited to share this experience with my friend.

When we arrived, the setup was lovely, they had get to know you question card games to play and they had a wide variety of scents to choose from. The process of making the body butter was fun and creative, and I really enjoyed being able to customize it.

However, the owner’s behavior left a bad impression. While we were making our fragrance samples, she told us, “If you use it, you lose it,” implying that if we didn’t like the scent we made, we wouldn’t be allowed to make another…which felt unnecessarily strict for a creative, first-time experience. Later, she came over and told us “Your 90 minutes is almost up and another class is coming, so you need to hurry,” which felt rushed and uncomfortable. Then, as we were finishing, the owner remarked, “You guys must like being here because you won’t leave,” which once again came across as very condescending…

On top of that, there were more shady comments and behaviors throughout the experience that I won’t get into here, as it would make this review too long.

This review is long overdue! From my very first visit to 29 Thirty I knew I had found something special and I’ve been back several times since. I’ve taken classes like body butter, candle making, and perfume and every single experience has been nothing short of amazing.

The vibe is immaculate. The space is beautifully curated, the aesthetics are on point, and the energy makes you feel instantly at home. The staff is warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and the owners are absolutely lovely. You can tell they pour passion and creativity into every detail.
