One of the best parks in the area, hands down. The playground layout is great, with lots to do and plenty of shady spots to relax. It is also accessible. There are no regular swings or baby swings, but there are a few of those big flat swings that you can sit or lie down on.

The park has a bathroom, a splash pad AND a splash fountain (which is nice for those who don't enjoy water dumped on their heads and prefer to shoot up from the ground), an amphitheater, a skate park, and a huge pond with waterfalls and fountains. There's a sidewalk all the way around the water, with a couple of little lookout points. You can see big catfish, turtles, and ducks, and it's fun to try to spot them. The water also attracts some interesting birds. Above the amphitheater there is also a kind of...small rock garden? I am not sure exactly what it is, but it's nice to walk through, it has benches, and little kids seem to enjoy balancing along the smooth stones.

Also, the ice cream truck comes by sometimes! What more can you ask for?

Oh, but note: one time my friend got stung by a bee getting back in her car. So I guess we should all be vigilant about that, especially if you're allergic. It might have been a fluke—I don't see bees there every time we go or anything—but it did happen. You can park along the side of the park (which is probably where the bees are) or on the cross-street, which runs along nearby buildings and then between the playground and pond. If bees are a major concern, I would recommend choosing one of the spaces away from foliage, and keeping kids from messing with the flowers. (The entire park is beautifully landscaped, including the...

I don't know how I end up writing reviews for parks so often. Just the idea that I'm trying to sell the virtues of something that is completely free. Hey come to this park, there's sky and water and landscaping...guaranteed or your money back. BUT... H4W park is a GEM. Extending south from Ponce City Market at North Ave, the park is more narrow than a lot of greenways, but goes for blocks. It is in many ways like a tiny Central Park. At the top there are winding sidewalks on each side of a long strip of short grass, but past that is a sunken pond with fountains and willows and stonework and an amphitheater at the far end, and past that even further are more winding paths and hills with trees and a great kids splash park. I can kill way more time at the park than I can PCH, btw. And if you keep going past that theres even more sloping grass and benches and that is the actual end of this gorgeous little skinny park. BUT WAIT! Its actually just about 2 more short blocks through residential and you can jump on the MLK path that runs west to the MLK heritage site, or east and it loops back onto the beltline, so if you're tired of the beltline jump off at PCM and cruise H4W park south all the way to the east-west Path and rejoin the beltline close to the skatepark. TL;DR Cute, romantic, less crowded. Long and skinny. More...

This park has become one of my favorite places to visit in Midtown. It’s located right next to the BeltLine, which makes it super easy to get to, but what I love most is how peaceful it feels. Even though it’s close to all the energy and movement of the city, once you’re inside the park, it’s calm, relaxing, and a perfect escape.

I usually come here for my runs. The paths are well-maintained, and there’s a good amount of open space, which makes running feel refreshing. Whether I’m just jogging or stretching after a workout, the atmosphere is always pleasant. It’s not too crowded, and the people around are usually friendly and respectful, which adds to the experience.

Another great thing about this spot is the surrounding area. There are tons of amazing coffee shops and restaurants just a short walk away. It’s perfect for grabbing a coffee after a run or meeting up with friends for a bite to eat. The neighborhood has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that perfectly matches the park itself.

If you’re looking for a spot in Midtown where you can enjoy nature, stay active, and still be close to everything, this park is definitely...

This review is mostly for toddler parents. I bring my 1 year old here all the time, and it's got everything she could possibly hope for: 1. A playground full of big kids to watch, with 3 distinct areas (good to have options for social distancing for the extra paranoid like us). Also baby friendly activities like bongos to bang on, and super short stands to pull up/cruise across, and shallow stairs to practice going up and down. 2. Large grassy areas to just let loose crawling/scuttling around. There are a lot of dogs in the area (fun to watch!) But that means I'm a bit vigilant about what's in the grass. 3. A construction site! Full of trucks and excavators and a big crane etc. etc. My daughter loves watching them for a long time. 4. A pond with several fun water elements, and animals! We've commonly seen turtles, fish, and ducks. There's also a heron. We even recently saw a bunch of baby ducklings! There's also a sprinkler area, but we haven't seen the water turned on yet. Generally everything is stroller accessible and kept up well. Definitely our favorite park!

A very quaint area that resides along the Beltline. The park blooms with nature that really melts your heart during the spring. Definitely take a camera over. Right now, ducklings are growing and the turtles are lounging. Here are some photos of mine I took! A warning for those who bring food to feed. Never, ever feed ducks bread. Research shows that bread does not provide the right nutrients to birds, and it just makes them fatter, not larger. As a result: they may not be able to fly. If you really want, then bring defrosted corn or peas. Should you bring food, be wary of a blue heron stalking the waters. Blue herons eat ducklings. If you throw food into the water, every animal will go for it. This Lovecraftian Demon Spawn will target any duckling/fish that is feeding on or in the water, and strike. If you don’t want those ducklings stabbed endlessly and eaten alive by that thing, then don’t feed on the water!
