I went in to return a console I bought two weeks ago. GameStop's return policy is a full refund before seven days, and a trade in value exchange before thirty days for defective tech. When I originally purchased the pre-owned console, the X button on the controller was slightly sticky, but the button still functioned decently, and I figured I'd go back in a few weeks to get new controllers and put that one in my apartment lobby for free for anyone who wants it. So I didn't bother with taking the controller back to see if they'd swap it out. But a recent system upgrade made my recent GameStop purchase obsolete. So I figured I'd take the console back, accept the trade in value, and take the L. But the person behind the counter made it sound as though GameStop wouldn't be able to take the console at all because of the "defect" on the controller rendering the entire console "defective". So now I'm told they can't even take it unless I bring my own controller I've already owned, and trade that away for the trade in value, not even a full refund. So I go home, grab one of my controllers, take the console back again, and ask to super double check if there isn't any way I can't get a partial or full refund for the defective tech I was sold in a defective state. The person at the counter calls the assistant manager, and the assistant manager just hears that I want to know what the store's return policy is, again. Again I'm told about the seven day and thirty day limit, but they clearly specify that it can be returned for an exchange rate for defective tech within thirty days. I say I'll accept that just to try to progress and resolve the situation, the person at the counter hangs up the phone and tells me again what the rate is if I trade my own controller with the defective one back in with the console. So I ask to clarify for myself, again, if I can return it without my own controller then, and ask what the rate for that would be. If I return it with MY controller, then I get the standard trade in rate totalling to $120 cash. With the defective controller it's an even further reduced rate of only $80. This was tech that was sold to me in a defective state, that I had originally made plans to spend more money to disregard. Upon it's attempted returnal the controller's defect first forbid me from returning the console, then deducted from the standard trade in rate value for a twice reduced refund.
The people working the store when I went in again for more clarification were very nice and understanding, but couldn't do anything as the return had already gone through as a defective return.
If you buy a pre-owned console from GameStop that is defective in any way, even as little as a button on a controller, exchange the defective tech immediately. If you wait more than a week you'll get the standard trade in rate with an extra deduction for some of the tech...
Read moreI was just racially profiled!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read the reviews corporate!! I’m not the first! I was shopping for my 7 year old son who wants nothing more in the world to have a PlayStation. After this incident I’m so sad he probably won’t get his present he wanted. All because being racially profiled. I entered the store as respectfully as I can be. Next thing I know I’m mentioned about robbery and theft from that store. And told that nothing in the store I’m allowed to look at. I can purchase anything but I’m not allowed to look at anything up close! I called corporate to get an understanding of procedures because I was treated with the worst respect a salesperson can have towards not just a customer but a good human being. Corporate was going to explain to the employee Ariel at the time about standard procedures and she refused to speak with corporate. She then left the floor unattended while there were a few other customers including myself which I assumed I was. She came back out still refusing to speak with corporate. Then I was asked to leave the store and that the cops were being called! Be cautious attending this store. If you have jewelry and Jordan’s on you might be racially profiled, accused of stealing and might have the cops called on you. My 7 year old son thanks you for not allowing me to...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst experience I have had at a game stop THREE SEPARATE TIMES. The assistant manager is the most unhelpful, and rude person I have had to come in contact with at any game stop. Today was especially bad when He harassed my friend and I about picking up an online order in store. While another employee helped us check out, he came out and told us that we couldn’t pick it up because “he could be anyone” even after showing the other employee his ID. He told us that we were not allowed to pick it up until we got a confirmation email even though they had the order ready in their system and waiting for us. This is the 3rd terrible encounter we have had with them, another one being him not buying our Xbox because he “couldn’t find the serial number” even though WE BOUGHT IT FROM GAMESTOP 🤣🤣🤣 Then when I asked to speak to someone higher up he refused and said “there is nothing my manager can do that I can’t”… so ridiculous and I’m glad I found another better gaming store to...
