I logged in with another email to write another review, because I felt the staff members who assisted me with my most recent visit deserved their own review. With that said... I did have an incident when I first arrived with the front desk staff but I have since contacted management so I won't elaborate on that. However, once I was admitted back to be seen, my visit completely turned around. The nurses who assisted me were friendly, professional, and gentle. They treated me with respect and the care that every patient deserves. They listened to me, paid attention to me, and did their best not to cause me any more pain than I was already feeling while they were assessing my injury. They talked with me and made me feel comfortable and cared for. The first nurse got my vitals and did an assessment of my ankle/foot as gently as she could and talked me through the whole process so I knew what was going on. She then went to get another provider to confirm her thoughts when I wasnât sure. Amanda Hill was so bright and bubbly and friendly and soothing. She was knowledgeable and kind. She did her absolute best to be as gentle as she could with my injury and apologized over and over that the X-Rays were down. She was so sweet and accommodating and kept me informed while she examined my injury. She was easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable and safe. She is the ideal medical provider, especially for someone who is scared and in pain. Her reassuring smile put me at ease even amidst my severe pain. If I could request to always have her as my doctor, I would. She put me in an air cast and at first I didnât think it would work, but she explained why she wanted me to wear it and the possible benefits, but also made sure I was aware of the risks. (If my toes got numb, cold, or blue, take it off, itâs doing more harm than good.) She did mention it seemed more like gout than a sprain but went ahead and treated it. She came to this conclusion before my primary care doctor did, and my primary care physician also believes it is gout. Amanda is personable, professional, and well-educated, and I am so thankful I was able to see her as my provider that night. I also explained the incident from before and she was the one to provide me an email address so I could voice my concerns. She also gave me the names of the nurses who assisted me so I was able to give them proper recognition, though unfortunately, she didnât know the name of the woman who had been rude to me previously. With that information in mind, I would specifically like to recognize the following staff for their extraordinary care during my stay at IU urgent care:
Amanda G. Hill, NP Candace, MA Nicole Lawson, PA-C
Thank you for turning my visit around and giving me exemplary care in my...
Read moreI had presented to the urgent care to have my 4.5y/o seen at about 5:30pm on Sunday. The registrar, Amy, had said they weren't taking new patients and agreed to ask the physician on staff - the physician agreed to see "but not do testing." I agreed, as this was a pretty straight forward case of a pediatric fever with petechiae on his soft palate and ear pain.
When Amy asked if my son had been there before, I replied that he had not been seen within the IU system. Her eye roll for having to complete a full registration was palpable. In the process of being registered, there were 3-4 other people turned away due to it being past 5:30 -- So I do appreciate having been seen.
Our wait was not long, but when we were pulled from the waiting room by Veronica her first words were akin to "What the heck happened to his hair?" My son had a party pack 2-week color in his hair for a party that was about 90% faded from his hair - do I love it? Nope. Do I want other people to shame him for it? Absolutely not.
Veronica was doing the right things, but not the right way. Axillary temp was taken 3-4cm below the actual axilla, not registering a valid temp. Also, based on the quarter-second duration that the strep swab was in his throat, no wonder the culture was negative.
Veronica left and Pamela Pilcher PA walked in. I understand that it was Sunday night but she was abrupt and terse throughout the very brief interaction. I was not allowed to provide a history, I was cut off. I was not allowed to state his symptoms, cut off. I had expressed that I had thought it was strep despite the negative PCR, because the swab was not performed according to manufacturer recommendations - she had said she would have it sent off for culture. She looked in his ears, noted L otitis media, and said she would put him on a course of omnicef. I asked if that offered gram-positive coverage for strep as well, and she had stated that she was only going to treat the ear because the step swab was negative.
We had just gotten the strep culture results and it was positive - so we're day 3 of abx, still febrile, and on an antibiotic that doesn't offer coverage for strep.
For reference, I am a masters prepared RN that lives and breathes patient-centric care and this whole experience fell tragically short of this mark. It was overall, a very...
Read moreI first went to this facility on October 10, 2020, because of shortness of breath related to Covid which I was recovering from - about 6 weeks out. Saw Lori Vest-Dennison and could not have been happier with her and the staff. She prescribed steroids for a week and said to call them back if I was not better by the next week. The office called twice to check on me. Finished the steroids today and was still having difficulty with shortness of breath. Called them and they said the doctor said I would need to come in to be evaluated. Went to their office immediately and Eric Asfuseh MD came in. Went over everything with him and he was more concerned that my mask was not clamped onto my nose. Told him the bridge of my nose is very small and the clamps do not fit correctly on me - it was over my entire nose nevertheless. He listened to my chest and said I should check with my primary care doctor, they couldnât do anything further. In fact, he said âWhat did you come here wanting me to do?â I told him he was the doctor, I was just doing what Lori had told me to do and I was told to come in to see him to be examined. He told me to get labs done - labs were recently done by two specialists- just seems like he doesnât know what heâs doing so he sends me to see someone else. Iâve never been so upset and disgusted with a so-called doctor in my life. Wasted time going there when I didnât feel like it, wasted another $45 on an office call only to be berated and treated very poorly. Worst âdoctorâ Iâve ever had the...
