The Tarnes is akin to a run-down college dorm room that no one cared to renovate for 20 years. It stinks everywhere, like someone splashed all the walls and carpet with broccoli water. The apartment I was living in had mold everywhere water came near. Thankfully it was taken care of with haste. Although the lease clearly states no smoking, people regularly smoke cannabis at all hours of the day. One time in the middle of the night someone smoked enough to make the fire alarms turn on for the entire building. Dear god were those alarms loud; deafening even. Much louder than necessary. Everyone had to be evacuated. The fire department had to come turn them off, and that was about a half hour after they began.Thank god the water sprinklers didn't turn on or my computer would have been history. There is no elevator so if you don't live on the ground level expect a gigantic hassle to move in and out.
The only reason you would want to move here is if you worked for Vail resorts and had an employee voucher for reduced rent. Electric and water are taken care of, thank god. You can get Comcast Xfinity for 33$ a month. There's free wifi throughout the building now, but I'm not sure how good or not it is (I've never used it). The front desk is actually quite competent, and helped us take care of some of our problems pretty quickly.
In short, the Tarnes sucks ass,...
Read moreThe Tarnes is absolutely deplorable. Can you imagine paying $400/month and all you get is a full kitchen complete with an oven, refrigerator, full size sink with a food waste disposal and plenty of counter and storage space and even I dishwasher? What is this, where is my smart fridge? If you want a microwave you have to buy one from Walmart which is 6 painstaking minutes away for a whopping $35. The bathroom, shower and sinks (there are two sinks for some reason) are all seperate. What am I supposed to do, I need to have all those things to myself for an hour. There’s no elevator here, my roomate was obese before he moved in, now he looks like Mike O’Hearn. The worst about the Tarnes is the location. If you want to ski, you have to walk like 200 feet to get to the lift, and you’re forced to ski right back to your housing at the end of the day. And if that weren’t enough, I have to keep my skis in a locker outside instead of carrying them to my room again, and they don’t even have the dignity to make...
Read moreThe worst apartment I've ever been in. Hands down. The thermostats in the apartments don't do anything, the building is controlled by a central thermostat that keeps everything at about 80 degrees. Its a sauna ALL the time.
They don't bother to tell you that parking is NOT on-site. Which you have to pay for anyway. You have to either take a bus to get your car...or walk along a busy highway in the middle of winter.
My shower makes loud grinding sounds in the wall when I try to use it....which is unfair to those trying to sleep underneath or next door.
The internet just doesn't work. It cuts in and out.
The hallways smell like weed and mold 100% of the time. Since the place is full of 20 something year olds...you never can get any good rest. Someone is always screaming or partying or arguing or playing music in the parking lot....which you hear because you have to keep your window open to keep it somewhat cool in your room.
PLEASE GUYS, just don't do it. You'll regret...
