I was recommended by a coworker to visit Rocky Mountain Food Truck, which I’ve heard is quite popular in the community. Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype.
I ordered a chicken quesadilla and queso with chips and was given a circular buzzer to notify me when my order was ready. I informed the worker that I’d be waiting in my car, to which he (I believe he is the owner) responded with a snarky comment: "That's how this works." I brushed it off, but it left a bad first impression.
I waited 31 minutes in my car, parked close to the truck, but the buzzer never went off. I was the only one in line when I ordered, so I assumed they must have been busy fulfilling other orders. However, no one had explained whether the buzzer had any limitations in range or functionality.
When I finally went to check on my food, the owner noticed me, grabbed my order, and opened the door. I calmly mentioned that the buzzer never went off. Instead of acknowledging the issue or apologizing, he put my food down without a word and shut the door. I found his dismissiveness incredibly rude and unprofessional.
Feeling conflicted, I decided I couldn’t enjoy the food after such an unpleasant interaction. I returned the food (didn’t even open the bag) and politely requested a refund, explaining that it was due to the poor service. The owner immediately got defensive, claiming it wasn’t his responsibility to find me and insisting that he had buzzed me multiple times. I disagreed because I was parked nearby, and it was clear the buzzer had malfunctioned.
Instead of taking accountability or showing understanding, he became loud and confrontational, saying, “It’s not taking any skin off my back,” as he processed the refund. At that point, I remained silent and watched until the refund was issued before walking away.
I rarely write reviews, but the lack of accountability and outright dismissive attitude compelled me to share my experience. This food truck is well-regarded in the community, so I expected much better treatment. Please do better and ensure every customer is treated with respect, regardless of how busy or frustrated you and your staff might be.
By the way, this was at the food truck location behind the...
Read moreI am a self-employed worker, and on my last day in Vail, I made a very important sale. That same day, I had already eaten at Rocky Mountain Taco, and since I was a regular customer, I spoke with Mr. Eric, who was working at the time, and asked for his help. I explained that my client was nearby but running late, and I wouldn’t be able to deliver my product in person. I asked if he could simply hand it over to my client when they arrived.
I made it very clear to Mr. Eric that he should only deliver the product once the client had sent me the payment. He agreed to this. Additionally, I shared with him how important this sale was to me—I was saving money to take care of my grandmother, who was gravely ill. I trusted him. To show my appreciation, I even offered him a small bonus for his help. We exchanged contact information, and I waited.
In the end, Eric stole from me. He handed over my product before I received the payment. My client never paid me, and Eric blocked my number shortly after. After hours of desperation—calling, messaging, and trying to get answers—I finally learned that my client had actually paid, but Eric kept the money.
At my most vulnerable moment, believing in the honesty of a place where I had been a loyal customer, I pleaded for help. I was desperate, trying to secure money for my grandmother’s medical care. In the end, she passed away.
I wouldn’t have written this review, but I put my trust in this place, only to realize too late that I had put my beloved grandmother’s well-being in the wrong hands. What is the value of a service if there is no honesty—if it...
Read moreStopped in after a quick google search for tacos. The first place I stopped at was closed so I moved on to this little food truck. Glad I did because the tacos were amazing. I ordered 4 of them and was sad when it was over. They were loaded with flavor and the lightly fried corn tortillas were a dream and the perfect platform for these tacos. The meat was flavorful. They have some sauces you can add and they were all decent. Only took about 4 or 5 minutes to get food and they have some limited seating. Only ding I have for them is that it’s right next to their generator which was a bit loud and took away from the quiet mountain scene that you’re located in. Definitely not a deal breaker though. I’ll come back if ever in the...
