I purchased an engagement ring and custom enhancer near the end of October 2019. The Custom enhancer was set to be done in 6-8 weeks (by the end of the year). I heard nothing about the enhancer through the end of the year and my phone calls to Reeds always ended up with nobody knowing the status. Then, the Covid-19 pandemic hit. I received a call once the mall opened back up that they hadn’t even had the enhancers made. In fact, what was disclosed to me by the manager was that the person who creates the custom enhancers, took their money, ran, and no longer works for the company. I finally picked up the enhancers July 18th 2020 (7 months later than expected). The enhancers did not line up correctly with the ring and were promptly returned back to Reeds for continued modifications (Note: the manager agreed with us on this). After several trips back to Reeds, they needed the engagement ring back to create a mold to fit the enhancer better. This process took two months and they had to be in possession of the engagement ring the entire time. It took them 2 months for the mold and enhancers to be created (September & October 2020. They did eventually provide a lender ring during this time as I had complained that my Fiancé's ring spent more time in Reeds than on her finger. They also did refund me $1,000 on the cost of my enhancer during this time as they understood my frustration. We received the enhancer after the mold was made and the enhancer still did not line up correctly with the engagement ring (Note: The manager agreed with us that the enhancer did not align correctly). Reeds decided to then separate the enhancers and make them two rings in hopes they would fit better. They still did not fit correctly. Shortly after continuing to deal with this issue, a diamond fell out of the engagement ring. We informed Reeds and they proceeded to fix it. When we received the "fixed" engagement ring back, several diamonds were covered in welding material and the ring looked horrible on one side (Note: The manager also agreed that the ring needed to be sent back to remove additional material that was covering several diamonds). After the ring came back, the repair was not completed and several diamonds were still covered in welding material after trying to repair the prongs and strengthen them. The ring was now sent to upper management as I demanded a refund at this point. The district manager contacted me and informed me he wouldn't issue a refund claiming the ring was in great shape after informing me that his inspection found 3 more loose diamonds. We are still in talks over issuing me a refund but now I have been unsuccessful in getting into contact with the district manager (called twice this morning). I have been calling every single day for 2-3 weeks now. I am honestly disturbed that a company has taken $8,000 from me and has provided such a horrible product. I still don't have the ring back. My Fiancé is devastated. What was supposed to be such an amazing moment in our life has now turned into a complete nightmare. I think the manager at Reeds and his staff are very polite and nice however, the product they are selling is absolutely trash. I wouldn't recommend...
Read morePreviously I had spoken to an associate who was going to give me a "deal" on an opal pendant. I went back to puchase the pendant and another associate would help me with this "deal." Associate #2 looked up the pendant on line and got a sales price of $115 but that she would take it down to $99.99 that would include a warranty on the piece. Never asked me if I wanted the warranty. (This is where the sales jargon starts.) She rings up the item and comes back to me asking for $129+. I say, "What happened to the $99.99 deal, (+ 6% sales tax, of course.) = $105.98, even $115 + tax doesn't equal the amount she was charging me. At that point two other associates came to the woman's rescue to try and convince me of what a bargain I was getting for that price. So in a sense they where charging me $115, plus adding on a warranty for 14.99 that I would have decline if asked straight up. I stood my ground and was asked, "What price would make me happy?" Kind of a silly question at that point. They ended up honoring the $99+price w/tax and "throwing in" the warranty. When inspecting the paper work they made it look like I paid $85 plus $14.99 for the warranty. I guess I am crazy for thinking that the unethical practice of fast talking sales people was long gone but you can be assured that it is an alive and well at the Reed's Jewelers at the FSK mall in Frederick, MD. As they say,...
Read moreI have been shopping at Reeds Jewelers in Frederick for about a year now. Keith and his team have always been wonderful to work with. I appreciate that when it's busy, they never make me feel rushed. And if I am the one waiting for them to be available, they always acknowledge me.
I went in this evening to shop for my mother's birthday. Keith patiently pulled out multiple (and I do mean MULTIPLE) Pandora charms and then waited patiently me for decide. If I asked for his opinion or input he was honest and gave a real opinion.
When we were done with gifts for my mom we discussed a little something special for me. We looked at a wide range of options but in the end, Keith helped me create a simple custom necklace. He never tried to get me to spend beyond my budget. Helped me look at all my options. The pendents in their case were beautiful, but I love simplicity and Keith showed me that I could get something custom, exactly the way I want and it was NOT expensive to do. I can't wait for Thursday to pick up my custom sapphire necklace!
I keep going back to this store because I never feel pressured in to a sale. The staff are friendly and greet me, genuinely happy to see me each time I come back. I look forward to being a customer for a...
