I try to avoid going to tournament city for purchasing video games. They like to take disc onlys, put them in fake cases and price them in between the disc only price and the complete price. Games that are in original packaging are priced $5 or higher than market value for those same games elsewhere. Tons of games in the display cases don't even have listed prices as the staff member has to "look them up" and of course he will try to gouge me even though I looked the same game up 5 minutes before he did. I will say a few of the staff members are good people and that's the only reason I haven't put 1 star. But a few longstanding staff members really don't care about you and they honestly don't care about the games either. Just go to cartidges on 85 they will treat you much better
Edit for response: You certainly do NOT have the most competitive pricing in the area. Also, play raven has the "largest selection" so that's incorrect as well. Obviously you're going to check the prices but I looked up the same thing 5 minutes before you did and you upcharged me for no reason just to squeeze $8 out of me. Maybe if you listed repros as repros and actually MATCHED ebay prices or price charting you'd be telling the truth. In the entire state of Maryland tournament city is at the bottom for overall experience. Avoid this place at all costs. In no way is my review "misleading". You're acting like i want to have a bad experience everytime I walk into your store. Panhandle in martinsburg and play raven in eldersburg are 40 min drives but are obviously superior to anyone looking for...
Read moreI've had great experiences with this shop. However my recent experience in there to sell cards left me no longer desiring to go back with the man who "helped" me said "oh we just take the lowest value on tcgplayer for any cards"
That doesn't take any factors, only the lowest cost they could find, apparently as was explained to me & then the guy acted like it was my fault for expecting too much & that I had checked incorrect pricing.
I am perfectly understanding of not getting exactly what the value for obvious reasons ( ie. The store needs to profit ) but I was lowballed & they were confused as to why I declined their offers. Their offers didn't even touch the minimum I would accept. If you're going to buy cards, buy them fairly. If a near mint card goes for 70 & you try to sell it to me for 40 because that's the lowest offer you can give me; obviously my answer is no.
Don't let card shops low ball you. I was perfectly happy going in, selling my cards, and buying product that far exceeded the store credit value I had in mind going in there....
Read moreSo this store possibly has the best customer service I’ve ever seen. This statement may seem somewhat ironic, seeing as I recently posted a 1-star review of them. In fact, that review is why I give them such a good rating now. In essence, I went into the store at some point and explained to them why I had written that review; someone in-store had done something that I had taken the wrong way. Instead of treating me coldly as I had worried they might, they explained their position and said there were no hard feelings. I can go to pretty much any store in Frederick to buy cards from someone who puts a smile on my face; we have a great community in this area. But it’s incredibly rare to find a store where you can treat the staff as poorly as I did and still be forgiven for your actions. So if you’re looking to shop here, I would definitely suggest providing them with your business, and would ask that you treat them as well as they’re going...
