Stopped in for some cat litter, and I usually get a different cat litter than the Dr. Elsey's but it was marked at $12.99 so it was a steal. At checkout though the manager Crystal rang me up and said it would be $24. I told her that it was marked differently on the shelf and an employee checked and said it was in the wrong spot, there were 3 more boxes behind mine so it didn't just look like some customer placed it there or anything btw. She suggested I go pick out a different one or pay the much higher price. When I had picked out the litter all the other Dr.Elseys litters were marked around the same price, no where near $22, so I didn't want to go all the way back with 20lbs of litter just for the same outcome because their products had been shelved incorrectly. My mother had grabbed one of the same boxes as well and was having similar issues at checkout and she asked if they were going to honor the price they had on the shelf for their paying customers and the employee kept repeating that retail price was $22 and the $12 price was litter in a blue box that they didn't have. After the manager tried to make a deal to only mark down one of the litters down for one of our two seperate transactions so we decided to leave and said we would not come back to which the manager, Crystal, said that would be great. I checked the online price for the litter and the retail price is marked at $16 anyways. Read moreWorst in-store pickup experience. Bought online, came to pick-up order in store, it was missing 3 items in bag. Cashier gave repeated excuses instead of offering an alternative "same brand, size" product I paid for. "Jenna" who packed my order didn't bother counting items accurately in my bag, she didn't note that they were out of the 3 cans or a note "offer an alternative" to customer. She closed the order as "fulfilled" and left for the day. What if I did curbside? I would be out if I didn't check. Finally, cashier got the manager who went to see if they were out of that flavor, yes they were, so she did come back with an alternative replacement offer-I gladly accepted! Other issues I saw while in store before picking up order: Store was a mess, BOTH "gender neutral" restrooms were out of toilet paper, one was disgusting. Bad practices and lack of cleaning and maintenance here. Fish department-fish are not well, fin rot on many, deformed fish, sick fish on bottom, fish that look stressed and not active. Lack of live plant cultures in cups, no variety in live plants in aquarium, algae covering plant tank, plants are rotting away. Betta's looked OK but not much variety. Don't recommend this location for fish/plants- go to Austin to an actual fish aquarium store. No one in department to ask questions or IF I wanted fish. Read moreCost for care is reasonable. The amount of staff and help, not so much. YES everyone is super nice and always willing to help. Their customer care is great. But honestly everytime I've been there to purchase feeder fish i have to wait an exceeded amount of time, i don't complain but i think it's important to have enough staff to help. Now today i realize we have this whole CVID thing going on. I get it, I work in the animal field too. But I've sat in my truck since 550 pm. I understand the curbside protocol. But I've called twice to this facility, im on a long hold 5 mins (each call, because i called twice), no answer and at the end of 5 mins the system hangs up. I understand we have protocols to handle. And i know i should come earlier but working in the vet field i usually would get my fish after 6pm bc my office closes at this time. So its very difficult to come right at closing to get items i need for my eel. Wish there was another way around this but these times are difficult and there should atleast be a courtesy to have someone at least answer the phone. If a call to be answered is just letting me know that they can't help me, i would have been okay, but the fact the system just hangs up on you after holding for so long is just upsetting and...
