This has been by far my favorite store. It's always been clean, organized, and the people on the floor are helpful, grabbing a basket for you, walking you to find something, e.t.c - like a high-end retailer. I stop in everytime it's on my route. However, today, my opinion changed... I was on my way back to Austin from Houston, where I'd driven this morning, so it was a long day and I was road-weary. I had returns in my car from an online purchase. The line was short with two people at the register, two cashiers, and one person in front of me, so I was pleased I would be able to her in/out and back on the road to continue home. As an aside, there was one person asking if people needed carts, and one person greeting, plus various other workers across the store. When it was my turn at the register, the girl clearly didn't know how to do an online return, which is fine. She attempted it, couldn't get it right, so asked the other cashier to do it. The other cashier admitted she had only done it twice and couldn't get it done either. By the time they page Lyn, the coordinator, it's been at least ten minutes. Lyn doesn't come right away, but when she does, she explains online returns take a bit. I explain they never have before. Then, instead of taking over and releasing me from this situation, she takes another ten minutes to train the girl how to make tags while I'm standing there waiting. And instead of scanning the tags for return while they make them, they wait until the end, Lyn walks off, the girl makes another mistake, and Lyn must be called back. The whole ordeal really marred my opinion of how that store is managed. Lyn had not a care in the world that both cashiers were inexperienced trying to manage the front and that a customer had to wait over 25 minutes for what is typically a 3-minute transaction, tops. Lyn, that -1...
Read moreI love almost every single staff member at TJ Maxx, and I love their amazing effort the put into keeping it a clean, friendly, organized, overall relaxing place to shop. The previous manager (I think she transferred) was the most polite human being ever. However, I do not like the new one. Today while shopping, I found a Nicole Miller bedding set in the clearance set for $35.00 that was exactly what I was looking for to match my new room decor change. What a steal right?! Wrong.. I went to check out, and it wouldn’t ring up right. The lovely cashier (one of my favorite ladies in there) called for a manager. This new manager was not very helpful at all. It had a clearance sticker for $80.00 and another one for $35.00. She basically told me since the barcode didn’t match it would be $80.00. I spend half of my life in that store, I know those red stickers are hard to get off, even after taking something home. It literally takes some Lysol, some willpower, a few select words and a prayer for patience lol. I tried to tell her that something being missplaced is one thing (because people are lazy and don’t put things back) but being miss-stickered wasn’t my fault and I shouldn’t have to pay a nearly $50 price difference for a store employee error. She had the most nonchalant attitude and basically didn’t care that it was a store error. Needless to say, after the lack of customer service from her part and absurd price difference it’s still sitting in the store just out of principle. TJ Maxx, keep the rest of the staff (and give them some well deserved praise) but correct the manager situation. First and ever employee that made any TJ Maxx experience less...
Read moreIf I could give this brand a minus 100, I would. Less than a month ago, I purchased a beautiful 14k gold bracelet at TJ Maxx in Bastrop. The piece cost $80. I wore it for about two days, and suddenly it broke. It didn't get caught on anything; it just broke. I am writing this because I was very naïve about thinking I could buy jewelry at this type of store just because it is close to my house. Please note that I am about 45 minutes from the city, and it was an impulse buy. I fell in love with the piece and bought it. When I returned to the store to have the piece repaired, exchanged, or to get a refund, they informed me that, as per store policy, they could not do any of those things without the tiny tag that was on the bracelet, which I had likely discarded. When selling jewelry, it is essential to have pictures of your pieces and a repair system in place. I should have exercised more caution before purchasing a gold bracelet from TJ Maxx. Avoid buying expensive items from these types of stores, as they often can not meet the expectations associated with the price and supposed quality of higher-priced items. Instead, purchase jewelry from a reputable jewelry store. I acted impulsively and placed excessive trust in TJ Maxx. Always inquire about repair services and return policies when purchasing valuable items, such as a 14k gold bracelet. I used to buy so much from this store. Never again, not even a pin. The manager of the store trying to be "helpful" gave me the number of TJ Maxx...
