Food was amazing! Staff interaction or lack there of was AWFUL! First time ever being here. We walked in and no one talked to us, there are two counters to order and a little black stand to order yourself, so 3 spots. The layout is not clear, just confusing. Tried to get the stuff as attention. She was up at the front counter cleaning and would not pay attention to us. We figured out what to do and finished putting in our order. We felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable at this point. We went and sat down, the place is clean and happy looking. It has a kid friendly area to play. The aesthetics did not match the vibe at all. Totally looks like it would be a fun welcoming place, but it was not our experience. In the middle of making our food the staff finally did talk to us and asked us if we wanted tomatillo sauce or chipotle, and that was it. Shortly after that one of the other staff members flipped the sign on the door that said closed. Which we didnât even realize that they closed at seven! We couldâve read the door bad on us, but also staff couldâve kindly let us know that when we walked in. The one staff member that did ask us which sauce we wanted didnât look upset the whole time; the other staff member that did flip the sign looked very irritated and upset that we were there. Also, we ordered two crĂȘpes and we were there 15minutes before closing, finished right OK, letâs see ordering 10 minutes before. I totally understand that it was close to closing and they were cleaning up thinking they didnât have anybody else coming and here we just ordered dine in. I get where their irritation comes from. I just donât understand why they didnât communicate anything. Once our food was done, they handed it to us in a bag as if it was a disgusting rag. She literally had it pinched in her hand, hardly made eye contact and just kind of dropped it at us. This felt like a very high school maturity level type experience; meaning people only communicate through electronics, there is no verbal communication, and thereâs hardly any eye contact. Not great for a business. The food was amazing though, and we will definitely be making it at home ourselves to...
Read moreI tried Tecuen today and it was such a great experience!
The ordering experience: My little one was able to play in the clean, adorable, gated play area so I could take my time looking through the menu and placing my order. As a toddler mom, I can tell you that this, in and of itself, is a luxury! The helpful staff gave me some great suggestions on what to order, as well. I wanted something savory, so I got the salmon serrano crepe and also ended up ordering a latte with lavender syrup.
The food and coffee were both absolutely delicious! You can tell that the ingredients are fresh and high quality and you get to watch them make the crepes right in front of you! The food was so impressive that I ended up ordering two more crepes to take home for my husband to try. Those were the seasonal ' pan de muerto' and 'prosciutto' crepe. I'd be lying if I told you I didn't have to help him eat those, too! :)
You can tell the food is made with love and the owners take pride in their work. The restaurant is clean and very well...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place! Stopped in on our way back to Richmond from Austin and were pleasantly surprised.
Carina helped us, and she was just overflowing with welcoming, loving energy. Such a beautiful soul!
The atmosphere is impeccable. Beautiful, modern, thoughtfully designed and decorated. There's even a dedicated kids' space, and she was so sweet to my 8-year-old son - so it's very much a family friendly place.
My son loved his strawberry hibiscus popsicle. I got a cold brew coffee with oat milk, no sugar or sweetener. And let me tell y'all - I can't take black, bitter coffee, but this stuff was GOOD. Just the right amount of bitterness and a nice smoky accent - it was the best cold brew I've had in a LONG time!
We also had to grab one of the beautiful hummingbird logo pins on the way out. It's really a shame that we don't live closer to this place - we'd be there ALL the time if there was one closer to Richmond.
Wonderful people, place, and products. Hidden gem - stop by and give them...
