Historic Star Theatre — Local services in Bath (Berkeley Springs)

My parents have lived in Berkeley Springs for 5 years now and today was our first time finally checking out this theater, and wow, what an experience. We’re kicking ourselves for not coming here sooner. As a huge movie buff myself who loves going to the movies, I’m very impressed. This little theater has so much charm! I don’t leave reviews often but I just had to for this place.

We stopped in for a showing of the new Ghostbusters Frozen Empire movie, and we were the first people to arrive so we had a chance to chat with the owners a bit and they are so friendly and fun! (I believe Trey was her name, but unfortunately didn’t catch the gentleman’s name, but he was kind and hilarious!) They even had pillows and blankets for their guests incase anyone got cold during the movie. You can tell the owners have a love for movies because they were so excited about this Ghostbusters movie, and who better to run a theater than people who genuinely have a love and passion for the industry?

The place was very clean, had plenty of different snacks to choose from, the seats were comfortable, the sound system was great, the screen was a really decent size, and the auditorium was much bigger than I expected since it seems a bit small from the outside. Plus you can’t beat the prices here! They are also very open and accepting of EVERYONE as they have a “Hate is not welcome here” sign in their window, which wins HUGE bonus points from me. We will definitely be coming back often now that we know what we’ve been missing.

If you’re local to the area and have never been here before, trust me and give it a try sometime. And if you’re a visitor from out of town, and you need something to do with the family during some downtime, check it out!

To the owners, thank you for the amazing experience today. You’ve brought so much charm to Berkeley Springs with your theater and I wish you years of success....

This space is not safe for queer people. The theatre have been made an 'apolitical' space where queer people get turned away at the door because they make the cis-het cast 'uncomfortable'

Expect transphobia and homophobia at a bare minimum. What Trey leaves out in her response is that they had to drop their accusations of people threatening the theatre with 'long guns' because they couldn't produce any evidence despite cameras.

Much like the 'harassment' at the Pride in Berkely Springs would've been witnessed by several LEOs no matter when the supposed harassment would've taken place (It's a small park and they hung out near our spot when not walking around).

Trey and Paul really don't care about inconvenient facts like witnesses or lack of evidence until the courts got involved and the case was dismissed because of a complete lack of any evidence to back up their story.

It should also be mentioned that in fact two of the people she accuse of harassment here have never spoken a single word to the cast at pride. Just more straight up lies from the Queen of Lies herself.

And just in case anyone is still uncertain, ask around town and you'll find plenty who have had serious issues with this suspicious and...

Tried to attend the Rocky Horror Picture Show last month. It was pride month, so a lot of us were excited. Unfortunately, it was cancelled at the last minute. It is my understanding the owners kicked out a group of queer people for having flags with them...then the owners FALSELY accused the group of people of threatening the theater with a long gun. This is absurd, dangerous, and illegal.

Think of how careless it is to falsely accuse people of threatening a public place with a long gun in todays environment!

Hanging a flag does not make you an ally, this is not a safe inclusive space. I will no longer support this theater or the Fairfax Street Coffee shop which has the same owners. I hope justice is served legally in this situation, this behavior is NOT OK and word spreads fast in a small town.
