Hair Play Salon & Color Bar — Local services in Beaufort

It’s taken me a long time to write this post. I got my hair done here a long time ago, but honestly I felt very taken advantage of, and have been afraid of getting my hair done somewhere since due to the sour taste the experience left me with. I got my hair cut which was good, but I also had two pieces on the front of my face and a little bit underneath colored purple. This was the first time I’ve ever added color to my hair. They bleached both underneath and the 2 pieces in front (I think they are called money pieces?) before adding the color, but only toned one of them. In the end the color was not what I was expecting, and the pieces in front were not the same color as underneath because not all the bleached parts were toned…. The color did not last, and the cherry on top was the price of it all. I think I spent somewhere between 300-400 dollars for mismatched colors and not even on that much hair… Every single person Ive talked to about it said I got way overcharged. I felt like I got tricked. When I was done the price was more than they quoted, and when I asked why it was so expensive they said it would’ve been even more if I colored more of my hair. I do take responsibility for not saying how displeased I was as maybe they could have fixed it but I was too shy to say anything and was worried it would just cost me more. However I also believe there was no way I should’ve been charged as much for what I had done even if it was done okay. For reference by the way I had no past color in my hair, it is strawberry blonde (more on the blonde side), and is fine. Ever since I have wanted to get my hair done, but worried I’ll get overcharged again somewhere else. I understand paying someone for their experience and expertise and sometimes that costs more, but in this case it was not worth...

I had my hair done here on June 14th by Andrea. I have bleach bleeder lines all throughout my entire head. I have a major hot spot in the front of my hair! The color is difficult to tell in the photos but the tone was extremely yellow. She also caused chemical breakage on one side of my head with her blow drying techniques. See photo below. This salon ruined my hair and refused to give me a refund!!

Also I should mention I emailed several times and called several times for an entire week before getting fed up and posting on Facebook (which they blocked me) but that’s when they finally decided to get in touch with me saying they don't issue refunds (even though they absolutely ruined my hair and I had to pay a ridiculous amount at another salon for a color...

I went to hair play as soon as I moved to Beaufort. Caroline cut and colored my hair and did a incredible job. I had never gone short or got any color and she worked with me until we had the exact results I wanted. She can pick up on what your vision is and make it happen. I now won't go to anyone else. The atmosphere is so laid back and the customer service is top of the line. Overall I couldn't ask for a better experience. And won't go to...
