Unfortunately, my recent experience at Magnolia Cafe was deeply disappointing. From the moment we arrived, there were consistent lapses in both service and professionalism.
We waited at the hostess stand for approximately 15 minutes without acknowledgment from any staff members. When someone finally addressed us, they commented on how busy they were, without offering any apology for the delay. I mentioned I was running on very little sleep while holding my 6-month-old, and while the host responded with a light comment, it did little to offset the frustration of the wait.
We took a seat in the nearby waiting area. During the next 45 minutes, we watched a party of four that arrived after us be seated before us. When we followed up, the host claimed he had called our name three times and moved on, though we were seated in plain view in the only available seating area. Eventually, we were seated at an unwiped indoor table.
Our server, Melissa, immediately commented disapprovingly about outside drinks, although they were purchased at the cafe attached to the front of the restaurant. My husband did not have a beverage, only water provided at the table. After this initial interaction, she walked away without taking our order and did not return for roughly 15 minutes. We had to stop her and ask to place our order.
When we did order, her tone was dismissive, and she responded with, “Well, I’m here now, what do you want?” I asked for a half-and-half tea and a Monte Cristo sandwich. The tea never arrived until my husband followed up. Her response: “I saw she had a drink and didn’t hear her order it.” I later overheard her complaining about me to other staff within earshot.
When our food finally arrived, it was brought by someone else. Both my meal and that of my dining companions were cold and soggy. When Melissa checked in on the table, I chose not to respond. My husband responded politely, and she replied with a sarcastic comment that only furthered our discomfort. I refused to continue to sit there while being disrespected and left the restaurant.
This experience was unacceptable by any standard — not due to a single incident, but because of the consistent lack of courtesy, attentiveness, and basic service protocol from start to finish. I will not be returning, and I’ll be advising friends and family in the area to consider other dining options.

Read moreI truly wish this review could be more positive, but our experience at Magnolia Cafe was consistently frustrating from the moment we arrived.
We waited at the hostess stand for about 15 minutes without so much as a “we’ll be right with you.” When someone finally acknowledged us, they offered no apology, just a comment about how busy it was. My wife mentioned she was running on fumes while holding our baby and the host made a passing joke — but the situation remained unaddressed.
We sat in the only visible waiting area. After 45 minutes, we saw a party of four — who had arrived after us — seated outside. When I followed up, we were told our name had been called three times. No one checked the obvious seating area where we had been the entire time. Eventually, we were seated indoors at an unwiped table.
Our server, Melissa, began the interaction by criticizing the fact that we had drinks, although they were purchased at the front café. She walked away without taking our order, and after another 15-minute wait, we had to stop her to ask if we could place one. Her response: “Well, I’m here now, what do you want?”
My wife ordered a tea and a Monte Cristo. The tea never arrived until I had to follow up, and even then, her response was defensive. At one point, I overheard her talking negatively about my wife just a few feet away.
Our meals were cold and soggy when finally delivered (not by her). When she asked how everything was, I gave a polite response, to which she replied sarcastically and patted me on the shoulder. My exhausted wife, clearly tired and frustrated, left the restaurant. Had we not had two guests from out of town, we would certainly have left long before the food arrived.
This experience was disappointing from start to finish — not just because of one misstep, but because of the ongoing lack of professionalism and care. We won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to others in the...
Read moreCame on a Friday morning for some breakfast and coffee. My coffee, the autumn breve, was yummy and paired with a gorgeous view outside. My partner’s coffee, the cinnamon roll latte, had a horrible chemical taste to it.
The food was absolutely abismal. I mean by far the worst breakfast food I have ever had. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on the house made English muffin with bacon. In no world could the bread this was served on be called an English muffin, and it was bad in taste and bad in texture. The eggs were overcooked, the bacon was undercooked, and the spinach had gone bad and tasted accordingly. To try to alleviate the horrible sandwich, I requested some salsa and poured it into the sandwich. It helped, but still by far the worst breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. My partner ordered the monte cristo waffle, which similarly had very little flavor, way too much ham, and was very disappointing. To top it off, the breakfast potatoes, the most flavorful item we received, were poorly seasoned with rosemary and thyme, both wrong for breakfast service.
For such poor quality items, the establishment is very over priced. Definitely not...
