Plato's Closet Beaverton — Local services in Beaverton

I have used Plato’s Closet for over 5 years. I have been, and had the pleasure of working with this consignment in various states. I am not one to EVER leave reviews. I hardly even leave reviews for Amazon purchases. BUT today was just absolutely a MUST about leaving this review.

To start, I will say I went by the store around 6pm. In the two large ikea bags of items were the following items:

Jewelery: 2 Michael Kors watches (gold and rose gold)

Handbags: Gucci handbag Coach handbag Nine West Handbag Michael Kors wallet

Shoes: Steve Madden limited edition stiletto’s (6) Steve Madden open toed heels in nude Steve Madden fur boots 7 pairs of leather sandals (various brown and black) 4 pairs of leather boots from just fab

Coats/winter wear: North Pole hoodies Kenneth Cole weatherproof reversible down coat Express suits blazer and pant sets (woman’s) Multiple pairs of Levi’s jeans Multiple tank tops Multiple sweatpants (Reebok) Running leggings (Reebok)

Brand new: Victoria Secret boy shorts (multiple colors with tags on)

And then of course various misc items like tees and tanks

I took the items in two large ikea bags. They told me to leave the items, and they will check them and let me know when To come back. I drove off the lot, and within 15-20 min they text me back that they were done. They gave me the bags right back and said that none of the items in were “fashionable” or the are “not what we are looking for.”

I have never walked into a Plato’s in any state where designer items were sent back, some with tags on them. I have never been told that items are not relevantly fashionable.

When they handed me the bags, one of them still had the knot tied on it like I do my knots…girls scout… it was evident just by looking at the items that they didn’t bother looking in one of the bags. When she handed me the things (the woman that reviews the items) she gives me the bags. I said, “what about the boxes of shoes? She said, “you had shoes?” I said yes, those 4 large boxes over there. She then handed me the $8.00 which she found “fashionable” and then gave me back the shoes.

They didn’t look at anything. I don’t particularly think this has anything to do with what was in the bags, but more of a “not interested.” For matter that do not have anything to do with clothing or items to consign.

It was absolutely insulting that designer handbags and watches were not kept due to “unfashionable”. The girl sorting through the peoples belonging dressed in faded black sweat pants and a tee shirt.

The absolute worst experience in the years of having used Plato’s closet. This staff just lost the store the opportunity to make money of designer bags, jewelry, and shoes based on a “fashionable” opinion.

*if I were to just leave out the details of what was in both the extra large ikea bags, there is no humanly possible way that anyone would sort through that many items in such little time…specially noting that the items were still exactly the same way I placed them in the bag.

FOR ANYONE TRYING ACTUALLY CONSIGN: This place and it’s staff show very little interest to be there working, and demonstrated a lack of knowledge as to timeless pieces of handbags and jewelry.

Absolutely worst experience ever to date. I would have felt better donating the items to goodwill than having walked into that store.

Well I love Plato’s they have been good to me so many times and 9 times out of 10 they buy everything I have ! I especially love Nick he is always sweet and funny and helpful and I enjoy it when he’s working he needs a raise there are a cpl other girls there I absolutely adore as well I just don’t know their names anyway why the one star unfortunately one employee at this store Kayla has to ruin it for everyone and the review and reason why I don’t give 5+ stars she has some vendetta against me and seems to not like me for some reason every single time I bring in my stuff for them to buy she either does not buy anything or will buy one thing and her reasoning why she passed on the other stuff is not even accurate at all. I have literally brought the same stuff in the next day when she was not working and they bought all of it she just does not like me. In my opinion she has no business being customer service. I’m not the only one she’s been rude to I have friends that i’ve come here and said the same exact thing and described her to me and said she is rude. She never talks never smiles has a rude attitude and demeanor, and needs to in my opinion. Find a job where she’s not dealing with the direct public. It’s a shame that she works at this location. I’m now debating taking my business and abundance of shoes, I refurbish shoes as a side job and hobby and going to CrossRoads or Buffalo exchange or better yet selling them online. Please get rid of her so I can come back to Plato‘s closet.!!! Update Sadie the store manager came to me in person while in the store and apologized for everything and told me she talked to Kayla and she would be working on this and it was nothing personal , since then I have been amazed by Kayla’s response and her improvement has gone way beyond my expectations I am so happy because I love love this store so much they are great to me and Val and Nick are such amazing employees and sweethearts thx Sadie for ur amazing management and prompt attention to my concern and sincere apology I love u all and it’s truly a bright part of my day when I get to come here thx...

This was the worst experience of my life I took some clothes they’re all very nice was a waste of my time they didn’t want anything except for three things and wanted to get $14 for a pair of Nike workout pants Nike brand new shoes and a Nike hoodie brand new never worn I was upset and the way I was being treated was horrible they were upset because I did not want to sell them my things for such a low price slams my basket on the counter worst customer service ever. I then grab my basket look through my clothes to make sure they were all there, And I missing two pairs of Lululemon leggings i spoke with the owner after putting putting a horrible review on yelp she begged Me to call her instead of writing reviews. She then informed me that she would get to the bottom of it and would give me a call today it’s now 542 and I had not received a call so then I called her cell phone and the store she at that point told me that she looked over her cameras and saying nothing and that they did not steal from me I then asked May I see your cameras and she told me no she was not OK with showing me that. Not sure why she would not show me the cameras unless her or one of her employees had stole my two pairs of leggings this is bad business and a horrible way to treat somebody that works hard for minimum-wage with three kids to rais.
