I was glad to hear that the old Movie Tavern location had opened back up as LOOK. We invited some friends and headed out to see Lilo and Stitch. We had some issues finding our email with the ticket and the guy at the ticket counter didn't seem interested in helping. Figured they could search our tickets by phone number or email address, but he didn't offer any other options. I finally found it and we made our way to the theater. There is a handy QR code at your seat to pave your order online but we had some questions on the menu so we requested a waiter come to our seat to take our order. The waiter was very nice and helpful explaining that galactic popcorn was popcorn with blue M&Ms, which didn't peek our interest. We order a regular popcorn, mozzarella sticks, a cherry Icee, a mudslide and a baja rice bowl that we were going to share. The movie started, we were all reclined in our cozy seats and the world was great. Little by little orders started coming out, we got our drinks and the small bites which included the mozzarella sticks and popcorn. The waiters bustling around wasn't a huge distraction but it does take away from the movie experience. The sticks were delicious, but eat them while they are nice and gooey. The mudslide was fantastic, but I was left wondering if they forgot the alcohol. My daughter had the popcorn which is a must for her at the movies. My daughter almost immediately started complaining that her tummy was hurting and she thought that it was due to the popcorn. I popped a few kernels in my mouth and something wasn't right, the popcorn was tasteless and stale. My wife took my daughter to the restroom as her upset stomach made her feel like she was going to throw up. While they were away my rice bowl arrived, I mixed up my rice bowl and took a few bites. The flavors were amazing and I was happy with my choice, going outside of the box ordering the rice bowl, until... one bite was off, there was something fighting my bite. It felt like the skin of corn that had freezer burn. Then another bite, this time it felt like a pebble, another roasted corn that didn't quite soften up during cooking. The rest of the bowl was so good, I didn't want to give up. I tried eating around the corn, but it was no use, I had spit out about 10 rock hard corn kernels and finally gave in. My wife and daughter returned having missed some key parts of the movie but at least she didn't throw up. She wasn't the same the rest of the movie as her tummy continued to hurt through the next day. My wife was also looking forward to the rice bowl and I warned her of my experience. She took a small bite similar to what I had done and was wonderfully surprised by the explosion of flavors. The small bite may have given her a false sense of security as her next big bite was met with a surprise corn that she said almost chipped her tooth. I took the popcorn and the rice bowl and went to find a manager. Finally found one in the kitchen near the theater we were in and explained the situation. He listened and defended the popcorn, but had nothing to say about the rice bowl. He picked a corn kernel out of the bowl and confirmed what I was telling him. He graciously gave me a refund on the rice bowl, but wasn't kind enough to refund the popcorn. Oh ya and the movie kept rolling while I was dealing with all of this. Our friends had a similar experience, their son didn't like the popcorn either and threw up later that night when they got home and their daughter had the worst Mac n cheese. Overall not a good first experience at LOOK. I don't recall ever having this many issues over the years of going to Movie Tavern, but maybe I can place that on the recent opening and new employees learning the ropes. It's still a great place to watch a movie if your not bothered by waitstaff milling around during the movie, but don't count on the food including the movie...
Read moreMy wife and I are regular moviegoers who visit theaters weekly. We recently saw "Weapons" and paid for the premium experience, expecting premium screens, seats, and sound. Unfortunately, what we received was far from premium quality.
The seating was particularly disappointing. The seats had cheap covers that were clearly hiding old, worn-out furniture underneath. This hardly qualifies as a premium experience.
While the screen quality was acceptable, the sound system was the biggest letdown. The audio was flat with no bass, making scenes that should have been eerie and impactful feel laughable instead. Poor sound quality significantly diminished our enjoyment of the film.
During our visit, I ordered a beer and the waitress asked if we wanted water with our drinks. At any normal restaurant, this question implies complimentary tap water, so I naturally agreed. However, we were later charged for regular water without any clarification about the cost upfront. This is deliberately misleading wording designed to trick customers. They're taking advantage of standard restaurant conventions where "would you like water" means free water. This deceptive practice feels intentionally designed to pad the bill through confusing language.
The overall premium experience was terrible. It's clear that the company purchased an aging theater and applied superficial fixes rather than making proper investments in upgrades. The management, including Brian Schultz, should be ashamed of these substandard business practices, which border on being scammy.
Additionally, there's an automatic 18% "service charge" added to bills. While they call it a "tip," it's actually a mandatory service charge since automatic tips are illegal in Texas. This charge wasn't clearly disclosed on the menu, and I only learned about it after ordering. Proper disclosure should happen before customers place their orders, not after.
The theater appears to be poorly managed and nickels and dimes customers at every turn. I feel for the employees who have to work under these conditions and deal with understandably frustrated customers.
There's no need to respond to this review it's clear you don't actually read them. You just drop them into ChatGPT and copy & paste the replies. Maybe take a moment to at least remove the em...
Read moreI would love to give this place higher than a 2 since the staff was so extremely nice from the moment we walked in the door. Multiple staff members greeted us and our kids during our time in the hallway waiting to enter our theater. Unfortunately they were a little behind in getting the theater cleaned and we weren’t able to go in until 10 minutes after the designating seating time. None the less, our kids played the claw machine and the time went by quickly.
We sat down and ordered our food with Autum who again was so incredibly sweet and helping us figure out the best meals/what to order for what we were wanting.
Then, our movie started and our food began coming out. However, about 15-20 minutes into the movie, the movie stopped due to a power surge. Autumn was very sweet and apologized and let us know of the power surge and that the manager was on the phone trying to fix it.
What made this not a higher star experience is that we had to sit 35-40 minutes in the dark with no updates as far as how much longer. When you come to the movies with kids, you don’t bring any toys or other entertainment items and trying to keep them still, quiet and entertained during this time was miserable. By the time the movie even came back on, I wanted to go home as no one was having a good time.
We also discovered during this time that my 5 year olds seat had red gooey, food (maybe old ketchup or sauce of some kind) all over it and it got all over her legs and we had to take her to the bathroom to clean her off.
Staff? Amazing.
The experience? Not so amazing.
Maybe we’d try them out again but after spending $60 on tickets and $80 on food with a 20% tip, it will be a minute before...
