Guess there's no more live music on Sundays or Mondays, all used to love hearing a band after a noon or 3 pm games but that stopped too. It's unfortunate that the weather is getting so nice and time change is coming. I've definitely been a very loyal customer since day 1 and it's sad to see so many people not there anymore. There's a pretty large group of regulars who have been extremely loyal and we used to be treated very nicely and felt very welcome...... nowadays, it almost seems as if we are a nuisance and not as welcomed. I have watched so many changes in management and staff, I've also watched the extreme decline in patrons coming in over the years. The main attractions are the live music daily with no cover and the patio during beautiful weather. Guess bigger TVs were more important. I have been involved in the DFW music scene for over 20 years and I know many very talented singers/musicians who have sent in videos and tried to get on this venue but they never even get a response. I know a few amazing and local favorites who refuse to even play here again. There's been plenty of times where bands are double booked or the calendar is completely wrong and no shows. It sucks to plan your evening and take time to get ready or invite people out because you are excited about an artist just to show up and find out there's no music at all! I realize Boomerjacks are booming all over the state but that's no reason to let this "one of a kind place" to go down hill. This place also used to advertise often and give plenty of notice for events, not so much now though! Again, I guess the business is not wanted or needed. The menu has also changed and not for the better (in my opinion). I was pretty close with some past managers and recall this being the place in the company that hit the biggest numbers at one point. The points have not been working for quiet some time and every time I try to redeem them, I can't. No big deal but it might be to others who come expecting the free meal they deserve from all the money they've spent and then find out they have to pay out of pocket. I understand that after Covid, yall decided to close at 12 on weekdays instead of 2, which I completely understand but in week nights and weekends when it is 11:25 or 1:20 and the lights come on and they turn the music off and waitresses are walking around yelling to finish drink or trying to take it from people, that's ridiculous! There are nights when the temperature is not too cold or hot but yet we can not open the garage doors, why, this is another perk of the place but at times, staff just does not feel like it. If it is requested or people are sitting outside, what is the problem? It's just rude and inconsiderate. Regulars, or anybody for that matter, should be able to call and reserve tables for a birthday party if they choose to, most establishments would welcome this, not Icehouse anymore. I have parties every year where at times I bring in 30-50 people but yet I can't reserve any tables at all! Just tell people to show up but tell them "hey not sure if you will be on the other side of the place or even be able to get a chair in case you want to spend more money and chill a while or eat". I will not even address the bathrooms. Either way, it's such a shame for locals and local musicians and people who do support live music and local bars (especially since we experienced Covid) to watch such a fun, once very busy, place with so much potential go down hill. I guess if the goal is to run off local regulars who fully supported the place during a crucial time and still do, and a goal to not get new customers in or coming back, well y'all are doing a great job! Other bars in the area are starting to get much busier with the same people and workers. Some people do not have family and they have found a circle or family within whatever establishment they go to and this may be there only break away from the stresses of life so it is a shame that this place has been that place for so many people and we all see it just changing and...
Read moreI went to eat lunch here during a work day. The atmosphere is pretty amazing and I love the outdoor set up they have. It feel very inviting and entertaining, with the TVs. ALSO, they have fans set up in case you get too hot or just want some air circulation. Other places could take note of that and perhaps try to mimic it.
The wait staff were all very pleasant and said hello as I passed walked to my seat. I had a wonderful waitress named Cheyenne who was very informative and honest with me. I ordered fried pickles to start with and she offered fried jalapeños (which I love) and I took her up on that. They had to be some of the best I’ve ever had. For my main dish, I asked Ms. Cheyenne what she liked. She suggested the jalapeño burger and proceeded to inform me the of the side that comes with. I had a choice of regular fried, sweet potatoes fried or onion rings. I personally have to try onion rings when offered. My food came fairly quickly and I must say, I see why that burger is a popular one. It was delicious and I love the bun it came on. It complemented the meat and toppings. As far as the onion rings, they were crispy, but could use more of the seasoning they use. In all honestly, they were a bit bland, but not bad. I think the crispness of them saved them. I suggest just adding more seasoning to them and then they’ll be good to go.
I recommend this place for their food. I do believe they do have more of a night life on weekends, that I’ll leave for another to review.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff members; Especially,...
Read more*UPDATE * My second time going was 10/09/23 to see Mullet Boyz. Women's bathroom had throw up in the handicap stall all over, hand soap out and one towel dispenser out of paper. Men's bathroom per my friend had pee and TP everywhere again. Makes you wonder if staff use those and then cook your food. Waitress was told to split mine from both friends and she messed it up 2 times! She split the ranch and their smothered fries on my bill. My friend ended up just sending me the money through Zelle. If we weren't constantly buying she was no where around to be found, even when we did need her. I will be hard pressed to go back. Manager stands and just looks.
This was the first time I was there and I can say the food is good. However, since we had a table of more than 8 they put a tip on there. To me, it screws over the waitresses from actually making better tips. Make your employees happy and remove that automatic tip. I would have gave her more, but my situation was messed up from the jump. Things were made right, but there shouldn't be a manager coming up to me 2 different times in the night. Stage area sucks. Sorry, that stage is why too low, we were at the front and then you have 2 guys that are 6'7" tall and standing in front of the band. I couldn't see the band. I had to go stand up there with a bad back to see Metal Shop or I wouldn't be able to see their show. Then I am just getting elbowed in the head, shoulders, arms, butt, back. For me I can't stand that long. Y'all need to come up with a different set up. I...
