When it turned out that the nebulizer I ordered from Young's was apparently lost by UPS, I called their emergency customer service number (imagine a company that actually HAS an emergency service number!) and they sent a replacement to me within 2 hours by special currier. I really needed that nebulizer and Young's really came through for me, so I conferred to them my first 5 star review.
Since then, I have had occasion to use Young's DME (Durable Medical Equipment) as a machine provider again, this time for a far more complicated $3500 BiPap machine.
Also, since then, I have had the misfortune of having to use a different DME provider that shall remain nameless. Having a different company to compare Young's to makes for a huge eye-opening. This nameless company, a local provider, took TEN MONTHS, to send me my (first) BiPap machine. Repeated phone calls to this nameless company were answered by ignorant employees that couldn't answer the simplest questions. It was not possible to “escalate” my concerns. When this (nameless) company finally sent a machine they made absolutely no effort to explain its use. It just arrived.
In comparison, when Young’s provided a Bipap machine to me, they arranged for a 75-minute orientation in their office with a delightful young woman (Linda) who knew EVERYTHING about the machine and explained it clearly. Incidentally, instead of 10 months, the machine arrived in 10 days. When I had a problem with it, they replaced it immediately with a brand new ($3500) machine.
So, Young’s deserves 7 out of 5 stars. They exceeded my every expectation. I wouldn’t dream of going elsewhere. I only wish they sold refrigerators and...

Portable tanks were delivered to her apartment & left directly next to baseboard heaters - they're highly explosive & clearly labeled to be kept 8 ft from any heat source for just that reason. Meanwhile, the tanks weren't enough to get her back & forth to her doctor appointments, so we requested a portable concentrator for her through her doctor. Three weeks later, Mom is in & out of the hospital & I'm still trying to get them to deliver the damned concentrator & get the tanks out of her apartment - with no luck. The Portable Oxygen Dept has no voicemail & no one ever answered, an 86 yr old woman was left to redial dozens of times w/o no answer or support from the front desk.
I appreciate the efforts of Shannon in Portable Oxygen today. It was the first time I was able to get a live person on the phone. She was kind & compassionate about our circumstances and did her best to sort through the situation and resolve our concerns.
I requested the contact information for a general manager. It's hard for me to see this kind of failure on multiple levels in a business where people's lives are on the line. If you require assistance from different departments, no one is talking to each other or has any oversight on what one patient's actual needs are. It's basic customer service, following through, making sure the job is done - instead the attitude here is 'not my department, not my problem' and people who are ill are being left to fend for themselves with the bare...
