The customer service is amazing here! The family and I went to visit Big Bear and we wanted to check out the store. I am a little apprehensive with Jerky, the girl who was at the shop was very nice and asked if I wanted to try a sample. I am glad I did! She gave a generous portion to me and my husband (I think they do this on purpose to get us to buy more, knowing their Jerky is THE BEST EVER, ha ha ha... it worked!!) We loved it! The freshness of the Jerky is THE BEST, and since I couldn't make my mind up, ended up leaving with more than we planned. Now, months later, I want some more but it's a good 4 hours from where I live. So glad they have to option of online ordering! All their flavors are amazing but we like the Sweet Garlic and Whiskey BBQ the best! The stuff we buy at the stores... forget about it. The only time I look at that stuff now is when I am craving Jerky and remember we can simply order online. So worth the shipping for freshness! The Stuff found at regular stores cannot compete with Smokey's Beef Jerky. They have tons of other stuff too like Candy, Fruits and nuts, and Coffee. So cool to offer those other things too. We usually go during the Winter months and love to stock up on things from this store to give out for Christmas treats to Family...

Best jerky, great variety. As a kid, we'd stop by Smokey's after spending a day in the snow (at their old location with the A-frame if any of you remember that). When I moved back to SoCal and started camping in Big Bear every year, I sought out Smokey's and was absolutely not disappointed. They have a decent variety of jerky ranging from dry to moist, flat to nugget, and offer other meats besides beef. I think they really excel at making moist thick cut and nugget jerkey (think whiskey bbq) but my husband likes their drier cuts. This is gourmet, so you'll pay more than chain store commercial jerky, but it's worth it. This is, so far as I can tell, the best beef jerky that's being sold anywhere in the country right now. I've sampled countless slabs of jerky from all over the nation, and this place simply does it better than the rest. One tip for everyone is to put the jerky into a plastic bag ASAP, or ask the staff to vacuum seal some for you (especially if you're ordering a pound or more.) It's perfectly fresh when you buy it (every time), but it does dry out quickly in the mountain air.
